The worst part was that they only brought thirty thousand dollars in cash—enough under normal circumstances, but not for a resort this expensive.
“Does this part of the country only have one cellular tower?” Kenneth asked, irritated.
“Um.” Crisanto hesitated before pointing to an island visible from the lobby. “That local island can get a signal from another island, but it’s going to be a long journey.”
“Can you take us there?” Kenneth asked. “We’ll make it worth your trouble.”
“Well…” Crisanto paused before sharing, “I actually live on that island, Sir. We have an afternoon trip from the resort, but if you come with me, the next boat service isn’t until tomorrow morning.”
