The captain docked the boat at an island called Grand Cayman, which is the largest of the three islands. The Cayman Islands are made up of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The largest, Grand Cayman, has a cosmopolitan vibe, gourmet restaurants, world-class diving and the famous Seven Mile Beach. Cayman Brac is a nature lover's paradise with stunning diving and breathtaking walks along the rocky bluff. The smallest island, Little Cayman, is home to just one hundred and fifty people. Visitors, like myself, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and sunny sky.

Then we climbed. A faint trail, barely a game path, switchbacked up through dense green. Vines thick as wrists. Air heavy with orchid and rot. Insects sang in the understory. Damian went first, rifle slung across his back, machete in hand, clearing just enough to pass. I followed, pistol holstered, senses sharp. We reached the summit at first light. The island was smaller than it looked from the sea, two square kilometers at most. A single volcanic cone at the center, collapsed into a shallow crater lake. Jungle everywhere else. No roads. No buildings.

Thank God I was married. Cameron and I walked on the two-kilometre trail that circled the island. Every nook and corner of this little private island had absolutely mind-blowing scenery. Warm seawater doused our sandal clad feet as we walked along the sea-shore, our feet digging into the muddy sand further with each step. Good God. If someone had told me that God had specifically hired an architect to design this heavenly place, I'd have believed them in a heartbeat. "I am hungry," Cameron said, breaking the silence as he tugged at my hand. "Do you wanna go have dinner?"
