Chapter One Cammy POV Present Day Cammy’s eyes fluttered open as the first light of dawn crept through the darkness, chasing away the last remnants of night. It was still too early to rise, but excitement buzzed through her veins, making sleep impossible. She curled onto her side, burying her face into her pillow, her copper hair cascading over her cheeks like a silken veil. She willed herself to stay still, to savor the last few moments of quiet before the day truly began, but it was no use. A slow, eager grin spread across her face. Her strange reddish-gold eyes gleamed with delight. She was eighteen today.

“The past? Like, time travel? Okay, spill. Did Scott finally drive you insane with his pranks?” I took a deep breath, forcing the words out. “No, seriously. Scott and I... we used my powers to go back. To his mom’s village, Aethercradle. It was an accident. We met his mom Seraphine when she was young, fought Revenants, dealt with this evil elder Veyra and the Aetherheart Shard. We even... we saw his uncle Cassian who died. It was all to give him closure about his mom.” Lyra stared at me, her black-lipsticked mouth forming a perfect O. Then she burst out laughing, clutching her sides. “Time travel? It was scary to imagine going back home to see that a decade or more had passed. With a rapid pounding in her heart, she held Kailin’s hand tighter and hoped strongly that the opposite would be the case.

“Although I can’t see, this place sounds so beautiful from your description.” Callum held Camryn’s hand tightly, “Camryn, this is our home in the future. It’s our forever shelter and place to return to. Your eyes will definitely recover. The lotuses bloom every year. I grabbed Axel's phone and moved towards him to hand over his phone. Axel took his phone but narrowed his eyes at me. “You haven't answered my question. Where are you going?” He asked sharply in a rude tone. I wanted to ignore him, but I didn't want this strange tension that was already happening between us to get worse. “I'm going to camp. Not the camp you told me to take a break from.” I quickly added when I saw that he was about to speak, “But the camp I made, I don't need your permission for that now, do I?” I asked in a tone that was clearly looking for a fight.
