“Yeah,” I said, irritation flaring. “She’s a raging bitch. Why does it matter?”
The look that crossed Arthur’s face wiped the annoyance right out of me.
Real concern.
Kaelyn’s jaw tightened.
“Because,” he said, his voice dropping, something dark threading through it, “vampire venom doesn’t just sit there. If it’s not neutralized properly…”
He didn’t finish the sentence straight away.
Didn’t need to, Arthur did.
“If she didn’t give you the counter for it,” he said, his eyes locked on mine now, “your heart won’t be able to handle it.”
