Synopsis

"Do you still hate me?" Ace smirked, as he rubbed his thumb against Gwen's bottom . At that moment, her heart wasn't the only thing that throbbed. "Well that all depends on what happens next..." * Some say that hatred is unhealthy. Some say that wasting energy hating someone will do no good for you in the end and only make you miserable. Gwen disagrees. Her entire life has been spent hating the Queen of Paria-Drae. She has ruined the lives of her people and even the people of other countries. She is a power-hungry witch that has no right sitting on the throne. A throne that she stole. And Gwen will her for it. And in order to do that Gwen joins the army, not the army of Paria-Drae but of their enemy, Estril. There, she plans to be a part of the group that defeats the Queen and be the one who retakes the throne. So she hides her identity as someone from Paria-Drae and plans to keep a low profile and only focus on her mission. That is until she meets Ace Puckett, the son of a famous army veteran, who has grown up on a military base his entire life. She immediately hates him upon meeting him, he's arrogant, picky, a show-off, and so, goddamn, sexy. Trying not to get distracted by his panty-dropping smile, she gains his attention because of her determined nature and the fact that she isn't begging for his attention. With the pride of being a citizen of Paria-Drae on the line, Gwen is desperate to take back her country and save its reputation before it's too far gone. But it gets harder to do that when there's a certain someone always looking over her shoulder.

Prologue Pt. 1

"My Queen,"

Frustrated, Gwen gripped the pen in her hand and looked up, ready to scowl at the person who interrupted her. But her words stuck in her throat when she saw who it was. Looking as dashing as ever, Gwen simply could not take her eyes off of her husband as he approached her. Even though it had been six years since they got married she still flushed when she saw him in his regal attire.

Ace had a smile on his face and tray in his hand as he approached her. It was a couple of hours past noon and Gwen had been stuck in her office for the entire day and completely skipped out on lunch. It was only when she had this realization that she figured out that the reason she was feeling so bad was due to lightheadedness.

"Are you alright?" he asked as he set the tray down. It had an assortment of fruits and finger foods on it. Gwen's stomach grumbled immediately upon looking at it.

"Just tired." she gave him a weak smile.

Her recent dilemma was figuring out ways to develop trading routes between Paria-Drae, the country she ruled, and other countries on and off her continent, but it was not going as smoothly as she hoped. Because of the countries track record, no one wanted anything to do with them and was not even willing to give her a chance. It was all the actions of the past rulers but because Gwen inherited the position, she had to shoulder the consequences.

Ace put his hands on her shoulders and gave her a little massage before he leaned down and kissed her neck. "Why don't you take walk, clear your head. Get out of this stuffy room."

His lips brushed against her neck as he spoke and made her shiver, causing goosebumps to break out on her skin. As much as Gwen wanted to say no, it seemed like stepping away was the best thing for her. She was getting nowhere and pushing her brain to try and come up with a solution was a dead end. Maybe getting some fresh air would stimulate something in her mind.

And so, with the tray hand, Gwen walked out of the office. Side by side, the Queen and King walked through the castle, people bowed and greeted them as they passed. Even after nine years of being a ruler, Gwen was still looked at with shock and admiration for what she had done in the past. She never acted like the typical Queen and that caused her name to always be in the mouths of the people.

It was especially crazy when Gwen married Ace, a mere soldier from Paria-Drae's neighbor, Estril. If a royal were to get married then they would do so with someone close to their social status, so Gwen was not even moved when she heard the comments of shock and protest from her close advisors.

But Gwen ignored them and it was for the best. She looked up at Ace as he guided her through the halls with his hand on her lower back. It seemed like a dream to be married to him. To have him all to herself. Well, her and two others as of late.

Once they reached the garden, Ace picked a spot under a large tree and they both sat down. The silence was enough. They both ate from the tray enjoying each other's company. Gwen would feel Ace's gaze on her but stayed forced on the scenery around her. That was until she felt a tug of her hair.

Ace was looking at her hair and twirling it around his finger tenderly. "It's gotten quite long," he murmured.

Gwen passed a hand over the length of her hair before holding it up. Her long wavy blond hair was now almost down her tail bone. It had never been that long before and Gwen had no desire to cut it.

"Well, now that I'm allowed to wear it long so I will. I've had enough of short hair." Gwen then turned her attention to Ace and looked at his hair. He had also let it grow a bit. He had these beautiful brown curls that Gwen adored and always pestered him not to cut him. It was a cute messy style on his head and more often than not, Gwen found her hands in her hair.

"I can say the same about you." she smiled.

"Well how could I not give you what you want." he gave the lopsided smile that always made her heart skip a beat.

Gwen rolled her eyes and brushed her hair over her shoulder. "Exactly. Ignoring the Queen of Paria-Drae would have dire consequences."

Ace smirked. "And what would those be?"

Gwen hummed and simply ate a grape off of the tray. "I'm not sure a peacock like yourself would be able to handle it."

He scoffed. "Still calling me peacock after all these years."

With a curious gaze, she raised an eyebrow. "Am I wrong?"

It seemed like that was enough to shut him up and Gwen smiled victoriously. Even now, she could still make him speechless. It had been something so hard to achieve in the past. Gwen moved closer to Ace, pushing the tray away from them.

"You used to be so hard to deal with, but look at you now, at my mercy. If I knew that making you fall for me was all I had to do was defeat you I would have done it from the start." She put her arms around his neck and pulled him close to her.

Ace hummed and put their foreheads together, placing his hands on her hips and pulling her against him. "If I had known that all I had to do was kiss you in order to have you begging for more then I would have done it from the start."

Gwen rolled her eyes, rubbing his nape with her fingers. Gwen knew that that was his weak spot and so she always aimed for it when they were intimate. Ace let out a small groan and leaned down, making their lips brush.

"You always play dirty," he muttered.

"Is that anything new?" she asked as she connected their lips.

Ace wrapped his arms around her and pulled her up on his lap, he bit onto her bottom lip and sucked on it for a couple of seconds causing Gwen to let out a whimper. And just as he was about to deepen the kiss they were interrupted.

"Mommy!"

"Daddy!"

Prologue Pt. 2
Flustered, the two pulled away. Gwen wiped her mouth and quickly straightened her clothes as she sat next to Ace. Just a few meters away from them were their two kids, Ella and Holland. They were twins only born a couple of hours apart. Ella was the older sibling and seeing how she acted as a four-year-old, she was sure to tease her brother about it a lot when they got older. They both ran towards them and Gwen always stiffened when they ran, fearing they would trip. Behind them was their group of nannies who were looking rather sheepish and avoiding their gazes. They did allow the children to ruin a perfectly good moment but Gwen quickly got over it, there was plenty of time for that in the future."Mommy!" Ella ran and basically jumped on her lap. Gwen braced for the impact and then before she could even recover Ella was already wriggling in her lap and trying to stand up on it, using her hair as a way to pull herself up.

Chapter 1
THE FIRST ARCChapter One*nine years ago*The streets were relatively busy for the fact that the country was on the verge of war. Although many people wanted to leave to prevent harm from coming to them or their families, the Queen forbid it. Typical of her really, she was a vicious bitch. The Royal castle stood proudly in the distance, guards patrolling around it peacefully. The poeple inside the castle must have been enjoying themselves, knowing that they were about to bring chaos to a country that had minded its business since it was established. But that was the price of power. Being taken over by greed and wanting more.Gwen clicked her tongue and she watched the castle with a

There was a look of pain on her face. They had had this conversation a million times before but Gwen never understood her view enough to back down. "And what do you plan to do Gwen? What is your master plan in taking the Queen?""I will join the army. Stop her from winning over Estril and then remove her from the throne."Her mother gave her an incredulous look. "That does not make sense Gwendolynn, you will be killed if you are found as a traitor in the army. Think this through."Gwen nodded. "I know, and that's why I'm planning to join the Estrillian army."There was silence. And then her mother chuckled a bit."That's ridiculous. You won't be able to cross the border let

Chapter 3
Gwen gave him her best smile. Mr. Rickeys looked at her suspiciously as he smoked his cigar. He was leaning back into his old couch and was giving Gwen a look that made her think it would be harder than she imagined. The interior of his house was how anyone would expect. Everything looked old and worn down. The grey paint on the walls was peeling off and what remained was cement and grime. There was always a draft that Gwen had to get used to because he never cleaned any of the fireplaces in his house. And there was no way she was willing to do it. Although he lives in such conditions he never complained or seemed like he was struggling. He was content with how he lives, even if it was not up the standard of other people."Why?" he asked and tapped the cigar over a tray."I want to go

Chapter 4
Gwen sat on her bed looking out of her window. It was around midnight and she had an oil lamp burning on her nightstand. She was stuck in a problem. The problem was preventing her from doing what she needed to do. And the problem had to do with her mother. If she were to suddenly leave in the middle of the night then it would be problematic and would cause her mother great pain. But if she were to tell her mother that she was planning to leave then she would be prevented from going.Gwen did not want anything to get in her way and she would be locked in the house if she told her mother. But if she didn't tell her then it would cause her mother to be upset. She sighed as she looked out of the window. Gwen got up and tapped her fingers against the cool glass as she looked at all the lights. She could see people walking down on the street.

Chapter 5
Once she was through the checks from the Naudis border guards she was officially in the country as a citizen. She told the guards the same story she did the others and they let her pass without any questions. Gwen felt slightly bad for lying but she knew it was for the greater good. There was a bus terminal by the border that took people to multiple areas of the country and that was where all the people were headed. There were a large number of buses andGwen looked for the one that would take her into the main town. Before she left she looked up how to get to the address that Mr.Rickeys gave her on the card. She would go there, just to let them know that Mr. Rickeys knew her and sent her here. Once she got into the army she would need to send letters back home. She was sure that sending letters from Estril to Paria-Drae was out of

Chapter 6
When Gwen woke up there were several people looking at her. It took her several seconds to process what was going on but when she did she shot up from her position. There were a couple of seconds of confusion before her thoughts were in order. She had left Paria-Drae and was now in Naudis in some stranger's house. There were four people looking at her. The woman she saw earlier. Two men, who looked to be in their thirties as well, and a woman who looked to be in her twenties.Gwen rubbed her face in embarrassment and offered them a small smile. "Sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep here."She gathered up her things which got messy while she slept and made sure everything was as it should be. The four didn't say anything and just kept looking at her. Gwen felt even more shame than before

Sasha's expression died a little bit. She looked at her siblings before looking back at Gwen. Jonah looked like he was ready to pounce on her. "What is it?" her voice shook slightly. "Oh, it's nothing hard. I just need you to send letters for me." "Letters?" "You see, I'm on my way to Estril and I can't send letters from there to Paria-Drae. So I want to send them to Naudis first and then have them go home. My mother is not the biggest fan of what I am doing and she worries a lot. So I want to send letters back home to her. I'll send them here and you can mail them to Paria-Drae." "What exactly are you going to do in Estril?" Keith asked.

Chapter 8
Once again Gwen was at the border of Naudis. There was almost no one there. She stood up in line for at most five minutes before she got to the front. To say she was nervous was an understatement. She did not hear anything about people being banned from going to Estril and hoped that they would not question her too much. Before she got to the border, she had to go and exchange most of her money for Estrillian money. Hoping that it would not be wasted. The money for Estril, Paria-Drae, and Naudis was not that far off when it came to conversions. It made no sense for the values to be different when they were so close together and had trade between each other. Gwen was sure the trade would be affected because of everything going on now but there hasn't been anything said yet.Because the border was so close to Boreon it did not take her too long to get there by bus. The sky was still dark and the air was chilly. She had some food from Sasha tucked away in her bag and she
