He was about to complain when Alice snatched the candy from his hand, unwrapped it, and put the lollipop in his mouth. "I said, let’s go back already." She didn’t let him speak and walked away. Alice knew how ridiculous she looked and sounded right now, but she couldn’t answer any of his possible questions. Carl promptly followed her, quietly enjoying some candy he hadn’t had in years. "You were scared." He mumbled after a moment. They were walking slowly back to the headquarters. Alice usually walks fast as if she’s always being chased by someone, but this time, Carl could feel that she wanted to take it slow.

Albert sat beside me on the couch and scrolled through my phone with one hand to help me pick a dress for the celebration. With his other hand, he casually fed me bites of strawberry shortcake.
