The Captain and I are locked into a stalemate for a long, long moment, neither of us given in. He glares down at me, baring his teeth just slightly, trying to get me to break. Through all of this, the captain, Nico Lancaster, just sat there resting his chin on his hand. A faint, amused look crossed his face, like he was watching a mildly entertaining show. A wave of pure hatred washed over me. My chest burned with a furious, boiling heat, and I genuinely didn't know how much longer I could stand there without losing my mind. I had never felt this level of rage in my entire life.

Captain Bob nodded and stuck the disc in the computer. More than a minute passed before we finally heard a low sound. I looked in Maid Beverly's direction again, and saw with pity that she was already regretting everything she did and said. She was shaking like the room had suddenly gone three times cooler. Her mother's gaze was down to the table. And the two other relatives were simply fidgeting with their nails and hair. Captain Bob's expression went grimmer and grimmer as he watched the video.
