Ella “Hello, little queen. Time to come home.” Valerius’s voice rolls over the battlefield like thunder wrapped in velvet . Every wolf around me stiffens. Every vampire straightens. Then Adrian steps fully into view. He’s at the front of the vampire line, armor black and shining, sword in hand, face blank except for those crimson eyes . My knees almost give out . “Adrian,” I breathe, and it’s too soft for anyone to hear but the bond carries it anyway .

Selene’s POV** I stared at the man in front of me, arms crossed, trying to make sense of why he’d sought me out of all people. He looked like trouble wrapped in a finely cut suit, with eyes so intense they seemed to strip me bare, seeing through whatever defenses I still had left. “So,” I began, clearing my throat, “are you going to tell me your name, or should I just call you ‘the guy who wants something from me’?” A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, and he inclined his head slightly, those dark eyes never leaving mine. “Adrian,” he said smoothly. “And as for why I picked you…well, you’re the closest contact I have to Callum.”

He yanked the dagger out of his arm, slashing at the officiant's heels, dropping him instantly. "Oh, that got his attention," Marco withdrew his paw from Arabella's hair. The blood that flowed from her face mingled with Rosie's, completely obscuring her expression. He cracked his neck, shifting back into his human form. "I wonder…" He reached forward and seized Lavinia, holding her chin in his hands, pressing hard on his face. His nails dug in, spots of blood appearing. "Your little toy isn't doing too well."

Adrian closed his eyes, his voice turning raspy. "My uncle, Marcus Blackwood. He coveted the family fortune and poisoned my tea. But the poison didn't kill me... it made me rot slowly, writhing in agony for three days and three nights. My rage and pain attracted the attention of Hell... and so I traded my soul for the power to take my revenge." I froze, a weight settling in my chest. So Adrian was a victim, too. I had one question left. Watching his pained expression, a strange feeling washed over me. This was a question I had to ask.

The very walls of the castle trembled as the ancient curse fought desperately against the bond. Pushing past his terror, Adrian stepped forward and placed his blood-stained hand flat against the beast’s massive chest, right over its pounding heart. "I choose you," he said, his voice ringing with absolute certainty. "I choose your light, not your darkness. Come back to me, Cassian."

Dad asked, shaking his head in question. “You are not the only enemies of the prick D’Angelo. He has killed both my parents who were assigned to initially keep the Eye protected. Somehow, Mattia, his sly dog was the keeper, and that resulted in Eva and Leonardo becoming keepers. Now, as much as I wanted to kill the man, the two brothers stopped me” Alpha Sebastian said, making dad frown. “His blood is yours to take, Alessandro” Dante said, smiling at him “you deserve to see his life leaving his eyes more than anyone ever has…”

The man that I had once found beautiful, that I once was in love with, that I admired, with everything that I had, now looked like nothing more than a stranger to me, a monster in my eyes. “I’m done with my blood,” he said, stepping closer. “At least for tonight. I assume that I would be getting more tomorrow. They seem to be rotting with fear. I thought that this would strengthen them, but they seem to be coming down one by the other. I'm going to need to get more of them.” I let my robe slip slightly from one shoulder, exposing skin chilled by the night air. “Then I would assume that you would want to take other things. Me perhaps?”

“Looks exactly like her mother.” Adrian sat at the head of the long mahogany table, leaning back in the leather chair with a smug grin and a sharp Armani suit that matched the venom in his voice. “Well, if it isn’t the runaway bride of the Castillo legacy,” he drawled. “Nirvana, dear, I thought you were dead.” Nirvana didn’t blink. “And I thought you were a man.” Gasps rippled. Adrian’s smile twitched. She moved to the seat directly opposite him. “Let’s begin.”

Hurried footsteps from the staircase removes her eyes from the elevator and onto the staircase. Adrian appears as the footsteps come to an end. “You move with the wrong crowd, human” he says as he stroll towards her. John dives on Adrian and pins him to the ground. The elevator opens and John shouts for Rachael’s escape. Adrian struggles with the blond vampire and comes on top. They throw their fists at each other and Adrian shows the reason he has been the head of Dracula’s security for years as he displays his superior skills. “You insects should have just stayed out of the Count’s way,” Adrian says as he walks away.
