Nina POV "Drink the tea before it gets cold, Nina." Novalee sets the porcelain cup on the bedside table. The ceramic clicks against the wood. "I am drinking it," I say. My fingers sink into the thick, dark fur of the kitten in my lap. Yuki. It is a Japanese name. Jethro must have figured out my taste by now. I stroke the small ridge of the kitten's spine, my hand steady, even if the rest of my skin feels raw.

On a small table in the center of the room, there was a sheet of paper and her phone set beside it. She set the kitten down who whined at her and tried to claw its way back up but Trisha pulled it off before it could sink its claws into her too much. "Calm down," she scolded as she took a seat. Nakuni's writing was crisp, clean, organized. Everything about him was so concise. Why in the world did Kanda have an issue with him all the time? It didn't make sense at all. She scanned the lines and pouted. "He had to go back to the mansion?" she sighed and glanced down at Claw that was staring up at her.

"Bye, Adrian," I say with a chuckle, then go to start reading the chapter, it was titled, 'Wolf Mate', it's an interesting chapter, talking about how wolves mate for life, never letting each other go, never cheating, the vampires could learn a thing or two from the wolves. Stop breaking the fourth wall, that's bad! * * * While Nero was still immersed in his lofty attitude, the group did not waste time either. They use their time to tend on their light wounds. Niccoli, on the other hand, was looking closely at Audrey and Nero' direction. He can't shake the feeling that the black panther has a striking resemblance with the one that attacks his cat, Luna, back then at the banquet during his name day celebration.

The house can clean itself. While passing through the hallway of the second floor she came across Aleister's room and noticed his door slightly open. She heard his voice narrating something. Curiosity got the best of her so she took a little peek at his activity. What she saw melted her heart. Manticat was tucked in Aleister's bed and the demon himself lay beside the familiar with a book in his hand. He read the story to the little cat monster who listened with drowsy eyes meowing a comment once in a while.

That he hadn't screwed everything up like he always did. When he was about to sit down for dinner, he almost didn't see the cat on the chair. It didn't help that the cushions on the kitchen chairs were black, and so the cat was all but invisible. It was only when the cat opened its eyes, golden and sleepy, that he noticed the feline curled in a neat ball. Abby saw his predicament and laughed. "You can pick him up and move him. He won't bite." Mark stared at the cat; the cat stared back. Then the cat stretched its paws, extending its claws, and Mark decided he'd sit somewhere else.

I yelp in pain, my leg throbbing as I try to push myself up. But before I can, the Hunter is on me. She grabs me by the hair and yanks me up to my feet, her sword at my throat. "Don't move," she hisses, her breath hot against my cheek. I freeze, my heart racing as I stare at the silver blade. This is it. The end. But then ... a rustling in the trees. The Hunter's head snaps to the side, her grip on me faltering. And that's when I see him. Gregory emerges from the trees, his lips curled into a snarl. With a fierce determination in his eyes, he lunges at the Hunter, knocking her to the ground.
