Lilian pointed at the crying kitten in the little girl's hand. "No you just want the kitten for yourself" Briana accused Lilian. "Don't worry I don't want the kitten I am just telling you to put it down or else it will die" she explained exasperated. "No your lying" Briana pulled the kitten towards her. The kitten was squish, the baby kitten in a panic tried to get free, in the process of scratching Briana. The little girl shouted as she let go of the kitten. The kitten immediately runs away.

Every time I came home, it would jump onto my lap and purr without stopping. Sure enough, an orange cat soon emerged from the bushes. "Tangy?" I crouched down and held out my hand. It stared at me warily without moving closer. "Come here," I said softly, shifting a little forward. "Don't you remember me anymore?" Suddenly, it arched its back. Its fur stood on end, and it let out a low, warning hiss. Before I could react, it lunged at me and scratched me, drawing a line of blood across the back of my hand.

I am not a big Chinese food fan but I love egg rolls. I am walking from my last class to find Indigo when I hear something. I walk towards a bush to find a tiny kitten lying there. It looks injured. I squat down, keeping my back straight. I may not be able to bend over without frying, but I have figured out that if I squat and keep my back straight, it isn’t so bad. I pick up the little thing, which starts purring. It’s tiny, thin, and dirty, but it's nothing a good meal and bath won’t fix. The kitten starts rubbing its head against my cheek which would be adorable if he wasn't filthy.

As though making up her mind, she suddenly hurled the cat to the ground and turned to run. Without a second of hesitation, Ian shut the car door. "Drive." The Porsche roared to life and sped after her. I was left standing there, choking on exhaust, and feeling utterly humiliated. Supporting my aching back, I stood up slowly. I felt both annoyed and faintly amused. What a mess. With a sigh, I walked over and picked up the trembling white cat. Two of its legs were injured from the fall. Its mouth was cut, and thin streaks of blood were seeping out. That explained why it couldn't run even if it was terrified.

Fiona also came over. "If you like it, take it home to keep Mitsy company." As she spoke, she squatted down and gently stroked the back of the tabby cat. Angela hurriedly stopped her. "Don't touch it. It's a stray cat." It was already too late by the time she finished speaking. Just as Fiona was about to remove her hand, the tabby cat swiped at her with its claws. Angela quickly pushed Fiona aside. In that instant, a sharp pain struck. Angela's arm was scratched, with four vivid red marks that were shocking to see.

Then I finally hear it, her breathing. Kitten is close. Let’s go get her buddy. Using my werewolf speed, I catch up to her, finding her trying—and mostly failing—to climb a tree. “Oh, little kitten. You’ve been caught.” I growl out. Grabbing her by the waist, I toss her to the ground. “Asshole! That hurt! I asked for orgasms, not a wrestling match.” She growls out. Kitten has claws. “You sound like an angry little kitten.” I chuckle.

I can’t blame her for being upset, and when I think of things from her point of view, the cards really do seem stacked against me. “She’ll understand,” I say out loud, reaching out to pet Simba, one of my two cats. He’s sixteen and was brought to a cat rescue after someone found him left behind when his owners moved out of their apartment. He was starving and sick, and I didn’t think he’d survive. Two years later, he’s still with us, and—shocking, I know—I got attached. He’s lived with me ever since. Giving up on trying to sleep, I mindlessly scroll through articles on my phone, wanting to stay distracted. A text from Chloe comes through, and I click on it right away.
