Catching Fire Chapter 14 Novels & Stories

SONG OF THE CHAPTER: MY BOO BY USHER IVARA'S POV: The fire won’t die. Not the one outside unfortunately. That one is already fading and has eaten down to embers and ash, but the one inside me. The one that won’t stop burning no matter how much I try to smother it. I’m pacing inside Ronan’s quarters, shaking, every nerve raw. My palms are black with soot, my throat still tastes like smoke and death. The walls feel too close. The air feels too thick.

"I covered it up in case I ever needed another way out." He twisted the handle, but it was locked. "Damn it." Another coughing fit overtook me, forcing me to bend over as my chest burned. The smoke had grown so thick I could barely see across the room anymore. Heat radiated from every direction, and before long, orange flames began licking across the ceiling. The curtains nearest the window slowly caught fire. My eyes widened as the flames grew. "Price... The door. We're going to burn." "We won't burn. Just give me a few seconds!"

The flames kiss the base of the structure first, then catch. Within moments, the Saltfire roars to life. Its heat rolls out in waves. Orange light spills across the faces around us, turning everyone golden. The chill that’s lingered all day for the last few weeks begins to lift, slowly replaced by warmth that seeps into the bones. Sparks rise like fireflies into the darkening sky, and I find myself holding Kara’s hand again without realizing it.

I suddenly tense, looking around as I hurry out from behind the shelf, my eyes flying open as I spot the flames that are spreading from the entrance. That’s the only entrance! I drop the file in my hand as I rush towards the flames, only for them to grow higher, forcing me to stop. “There’s a fire! Fire!” I shout as I watch the fire spread terrifyingly fast. My heart rages as I stand there watching the fire spread across the shelves, eating all the papers and files it touches. “Fire!” I shout, wondering why the alarm hasn’t gone off. This was no accident. My eyes blaze, the cold dreary room now lit with the fiery glow of the fire. This was planned.

A.N. – Thank you all for your dedication to Fire and Ice, the story from here on out will include chapters from the POV of both Roman and Amber, the next few chapters will be Ambers entirely as we get to know her better and finally learn all about what has been going on between her and the Beta, but don’t worry, we haven’t heard the last of Tristan and Cali just yet. I hope you enjoy, L.M.Nokes xx Amber

CHAPTER ELEVEN – FIRE AND LIES The fire spread faster than I thought possible. Flames licked the ridge like angry fingers, cracking the earth beneath our boots. The air was thick, choking, each breath burning my lungs. Luca clung to me, eyes wide with terror, and I felt a pulse of raw fear that made my hands shake—but I forced it down. There was no room for fear. Not now. Bishop’s laughter echoed over the inferno, carried by the wind like a promise of death. He had positioned himself above us, eyes glinting with satisfaction. And the second spark plug… glowing faintly red, perched on the edge of the ridge like a ticking bomb.

THE GIRL WHO COULDN'T BURN Walking on Fire The morning after the Red Court attack. The grove is scorched, yet the tent holding Nya remains untouched. Ash clings to trees like snow. A circle of coal still smolders. Nya steps barefoot into the embers. Around her, wolves halt mid-task. Conversations die. Even Maera stops stirring her healing tinctures as the silence thickens. Ceres (gasping softly): "She's walking through fire... as if it doesn't see her."

Or so I hoped. The fire seemed to grow hotter, the flames dancing higher and higher. I could feel the heat radiating towards me, even though the fire wasn't actually touching me. It was as if the flames were reaching out, testing the boundaries of the circle. I gritted my teeth, trying to endure the heat. But it was getting harder and harder to bear. Sweat dripped from my brow, and my skin felt like it was burning. And then, in an instant, everything changed. Callista's head snapped towards me, and the fire that had been licking at the edges of the circle suddenly shot towards me.

Tears filled her eyes as she whispered against his chest, “Then burn it down. Burn the book. Please.” But when he reached for the pages, the blood hissed back like flames resisting him. The book laughed—a sharp, broken sound akin to paper tearing apart: “You can’t burn her story, fox; you can only read it…and reading means obeying.” Camela’s scream caught in her throat as she muttered, “It spoke…” Vincent bared his teeth in defiance as his fire flared even higher. “Then I’ll silence it,” he said fiercely. He slammed his hand down, his fire blazing but the pages didn’t burn. Instead, they bled harder and thicker, flooding the floor until it reached their ankles.

Xavier suddenly realized what it was, and he yelled, “Step back into a tight circle, Now!!—” BOOM! Fire raged like a red tsunami all around them from the highly flammable liquid cleverly hidden along the room. The heat was searing, flames licking wide and high. The couple of warriors that had heard the warning in time were saved, but a few got caught in the fire, and they ran about in panic, with flames dancing off their backs.. “Shit!” Someone cursed tensely. “What do we do! It’s a trap!”
