My clothes smelled like Christmas food, mainly turkey and stuffing. The smell was in my hair too, but I was too tired to take a shower. Cato stripped down to nothing, presumptuous about what would happen now that the night was over. “I’m so tired, Cato. I cooked all day, my back is killing me, and I smell like a turkey.”

A few minutes later, our colorful drinks arrived, and there was still no sign of Clyve. “Where is Clyve?” Kat asked after sipping her drink. Before I could fish out my phone, warm breath against my neck made me freeze. “You look gorgeous.” I turned my head and smiled. “Clyve! I thought you won’t show up.” “Not gonna happen, sweetie.” His eyes danced with humor. Those eyes reminded me of him. Clyve cleaned up pretty well with a dark shirt and pants. He looked fresh than the last time I saw him at the lab. And he smelled sandalwood and mint. He sat in an empty chair beside me after he introduced himself to Kat. Kat giggled when Clyve kissed her hand just like a British did.

I replied. He sighed and paused for a moment. "You don't need to know," he said eventually. "Then how can I ever understand you?" I replied just as Cato came running in with his t-shirt on inside out and back to front and his shoes on the wrong feet. "I'm ready for the park!" he announced. I smiled at Cato before looking over to Leo who was looking vacantly into space. "Come here, baby," I said. "You've got your shoes and your shirt on wrong. How are you meant to see the lovely dinosaur on the front if you've got it inside out?"

"I can't marry a man who's been cheating on me." The grove explodes. People jump up, voices raised in shock. Marcus grabs my arm, his fingers digging in. "You're making a mistake. Think about what you're doing." But I'm already moving. I drop my bouquet, grab my dress, and run. Behind me, Dad shouts my name, Marcus curses, the crowd goes crazy. I run through the trees, my dress catching on branches, my veil flying behind me. I don't know where I'm going. I just know I can't marry him.

There’re other scents mixed in something sickly sweet-smelling, and the other I’ve never smelt before, it’s faint, but it makes me want to know what it is.
