He waited—giving her the chance to pull away.
She didn’t.
His hand closed gently around hers, grounding.
“Okay,” he said. “Partners.”
Eva exhaled shakily, relief and fear mixed together.
Then she said the next truth—the one that would ignite everything again.
“I’m publishing,” she whispered.
Alexander’s grip tightened. “Eva—”
“Responsibly,” she said quickly, holding his gaze. “But fully.”
His jaw clenched. “Your editor will make it a spectacle.”
“He won’t,” Eva replied. “Because I’m not running it through him.”
