The cats move like living shadows, relentless, untouchable… until, abruptly, they stop.
We return to Caelora, who is crying miserably. I hurry to her side.
“What is it?” I ask.
“I… I couldn’t control them. I tried, I tried… it didn’t work,” she breathes, broken.
“Queen,” Rauth calls, lifting my head. “Come.”
“Please stay with her,” I say to Thyra.
I follow Rauth to a corner. His eyes lock on mine, steady, urgent.
“Something came up,” he breathes.
