As she reached for the last one, her back accidentally knocked into the bookshelf, sending several books tumbling to the floor with a loud thud. Her heart leapt into her throat as she spun around, eyes wide. The noise felt like a bomb in the quiet room. Hastily, she crouched down, picking up the fallen books, her fingers trembling as she placed them back on the shelf. Every second felt like a countdown to the moment Ivan would burst through the door and find her there. She silently begged that Iris would keep him occupied, at least for a while longer. For the first time, Autumn prayed that Iris would hold Ivan's attention entirely. The irony wasn't lost on her.

I opened my mouth to shout at her to move, but before any sound could escape, a figure appeared, darting across the room like a dark shadow. Kieran’s hand shot out and caught the book mere inches from Nora’s skull. Nora stumbled backward, eyes going wide. “Woah!” “Get down from there,” Kieran said, glaring up at me. “Right this instant.” Heart in my throat, I climbed down as quickly as I could, but it wasn’t easy with the way my hands were shaking on the rungs. When I reached the bottom, Kieran was standing there with the book clutched in one hand and a look of fury in his eyes.

Just as I was getting up, my hand knocked out some of the books on the shelf I was leaning on, and they came crashing down, making a hell of a noise and giving me out. My heart skipped a beat, and my jaws dropped. Her footsteps stopped, and I cursed silently, hoping she wouldn't locate where the noise came from. I quickly bent down and began to pick the books, breathing heavily and hoping she wouldn't find me. As I picked up the books, my eyes caught a pair of black wedges some inches away from me. I slowly looked up and my eyes locked with hers. I knew that I was caught, and there was no need to hide again.

So Brock read books, how cute, a book caught my attention and I saw that I was an old journal written by Brock. “You know, you shouldn’t snoop” said Brock voice behind me and I whirled around, his journal fell from my hands and he smiled.

I still tried to read on, maybe I would find something interesting, but it just bored me more and more so I dropped it. I went back to the shelf I took it from to place it back, and began searching for another one, a romance genre this time. I continued searching till I saw one at the end of the shelf. I could not clearly see the cover, but I could see red lips on it, catching my attention. I reached out to take it, but my hand didn't get to it. I even went on my heels, but it was the same so I resulted to jumping. As I took the second jump, I suddenly saw a hand moving above me, and reaching for the book. I froze, perceiving the scent which seemed all too familiar. It was like I was used to

As I bent down to scoop up my finds, my eyes caught on something strange. A massive, leather-bound book was wedged tightly between two heavy book cases, shoved into the narrow gap where they met. That’s weird, I thought. Why would someone hide a book like that? I walked toward it, reaching into the gap. As my fingers brushed the leather, I jumped back. The book felt warm, almost hot, to the touch. Curiosity won out over fear. I gripped the spine and pulled. It didn't budge. I planted my feet and gave a hard yank. Slowly, the book started to slide out. It was almost completely free when a voice startled me.
