Cancel the Cradle, Cue the Rage

Cancel the Cradle, Cue the Rage

I returned to my office, made myself a cup of coffee, and waited. It didn't even take ten minutes before someone came knocking. The first to come in was, surprisingly, Layla. She clutched a USB drive so tightly her knuckles turned white. As soon as she stepped inside, she dropped to her knees. "I'm sorry, Ms. Cooper. I'm so, so sorry. I must've been out of my mind!" She cried, burying her face in one hand, while holding out the USB drive with the other. "Everything's in here—every chat log where Keira planned how to blow this up step by step and force you to give in!

Lavender Girl

Lavender Girl

* *crush* Without hesitation, Krittin swiftly retaliated, delivering a palm strike that sent one of the wardens crashing into the cave ceiling. The other warden managed to evade the attack and retreated to the cannon platform mounted below the central ceiling of the cave. The AB Cannon on the platform towered above, resembling a pillar-like cannon in Idorund's hands, but this version was colossal, comparable in size to a ten-wheeler truck. The bright streaks along its edges emanated from the glow of the giant Aiolia ore. It was a weapon that Airburst took immense pride in, capable of decimating an entire landscape with a single shot. And now, it was aimed directly at Krittin.

CARNAL

CARNAL

Cain all but carried him down the hallway as Zak's feet drug the ground behind him, Cain no doubt being gentler now that I had expressed my wish for equal treatment. He pulled Zak into a stairwell and began to defend down into the basement with me hot on his trail. We eventually made it to what looked like a steel vault door. I eyed Zak's glazed over expression as Cain put his hand up to the panel next to the door to be scanned. A red laser passed over his hand before the entire panel lit up green. A whirring of sound of mechanics rang out from behind the door before the sound of air pressure releasing. The heavy vault door opened enough for Cain to pull it open completely.

The Moon's Mercy: Throne of Ashes

The Moon's Mercy: Throne of Ashes

The cavern did not just shake this time; it imploded. The miles-wide black obsidian arches snapped along their central axes, the entire subterranean roof collapsing downward in a massive avalanche of multi-ton granite blocks and white volcanic steam. The iron lift platform didn't tilt, it was physically pulverized by a falling tower section, sending Elara, Garrett, and the dying Gideon dropping straight down into the black, boiling sulfur-springs below.

Secret Crush

Secret Crush

He had mentioned ice cream as motivation, and that could be an excuse for when Ally was at home and was wondering where they had gone to. He needed to make a stop at Darren Harper's house. He was the school computer whiz. There was nothing he couldn’t hack into, even though his services were not known by all. He had earned the name Darren Hacker when he first hacked into the school archive to change the record of the school valedictorian from one year to another. He had done several others but that was what gained him the recognition.

raid slipping over one shoulder. “Assassination?”“No,” I said. “Devastation.”I pointed to the valley north of the Obsidian Range—uncharted by most, but I remembered the tunnels. The way they snaked like veins beneath the old ruins. “This is where Dorian's camp is gathering. Silas called himself a mouthpiece, which means the real generals are still in hiding.”Hale frowned. “We don’t have the numbers for a full siege.”“We don’t need a siege,” Sora cut in. “We need disruption.”Ryker met my gaze. “You’re thinking of the Aether Cradle.”I nodded once. The Aether Cradle was an ancient fissure buried deep in the mountain’s heart. Raw, volatile energy pulsed there—too dangerous for use, too unstable t

Redeemed by the billionaire

Redeemed by the billionaire

“Or I can choose neither. And build a third way.” Camellia ran another diagnostic on the breach log. The code was strange — not aggressive, but intimately designed. Like someone had studied their architecture from the inside. And it hit her. Dario’s codebase. She isolated a trailing signature that hadn’t been deleted. “KEY=ECHO47” Her heart sank. Echo47 was a rumored subprotocol used by Cassandra engineers — long before the Vault implosion. She ran a trace. It linked to one international gateway — KrayNet.

Crash of Hearts

Crash of Hearts

Even the door to Jeffrey's own office had been tampered with. No one knew for sure what exactly had been stolen. Jeffrey was livid, immediately demanding a comprehensive review of the security tapes. To his astonishment, the team responsible for the surveillance hesitated, their voices faltering as they confessed, "A recent thunderstorm knocked out the system—the lightning fried the wiring, and now all our security cameras are offline." It turned out the cameras were merely decorative. No one could believe it; a theft occurred precisely when the system was down, sending shockwaves throughout the company.

The Secretly Rich Man

The Secretly Rich Man

Barely a second later, a thunderous explosion was heard and the ground began trembling like crazy! “This… doesn’t look good…!” gulped Ryder as he felt his heart skip a beat. With a wave of his hands, he then turned into a cloud of green smoke before disappearing into thin air! With stalactites already starting to fall from the ceiling, the cavern didn’t look like it would last for much longer! By the time it was all over, the cavern ended up becoming a massive ruin, with only the Red River continuing to flow deep underneath…

It's a good book as far as I have read so far. I'm getting discouraged, though. I'm running out of patience and time for these types of stories. "Neverending" stories where some chapters repeat themselves for some reason or other drives me bunkers. Just saying. I prefer shorter stories.
