Ceiling Fan Blade Dragonfly Novels & Stories

Catan blew through my chest and roared once. "Are we going to catch up or let her go?" The dragon asked. The building’s sensors throttled power to the window rails so I would not rip them out. I dropped and caught the lift of the updraft, and then I was over her. "Lets make way, and keep her safe for now."

***Dru's POV*** Moonlight spills through the cracked window, fractured by the rusty fan blades spinning lazily overhead. It stripes the tangled sheets—threadbare cotton stained with motor oil and bayou mud—in silver and shadow. Outside, the buzz of cicadas thrums in time with the creak of the bedsprings, a primal soundtrack to the leather-and-vanilla scent clinging to Dragon’s skin.

Every corpse had its eyes melted clean from the skull. Bella started to speak, but Zayla clamped a hand over her mouth and hissed, “Don’t. Listen.” There was a ticking, almost insect-like sound coming from the ceiling. Jenifer tracked the sound with her blade, eyes wide. Something moved in the glass overhead—something huge and wrong, a shape resembling a dragon made of living shadow and wire. It circled once, twice, then vanished behind an outcropping. “We need to get out, or get what we came for and run,” Liam murmured, his voice steady. “If that thing comes down here, we’re dead.”

Declan warned. The bat used its feet to pick up the slug, and then he flew against the fighting currents of the wind towards the entrance of the cave. The dragon flew overhead, flapping its wings, casting a gale-force wind on the group down below. Its claws were like deadly blades and its tail resembled two hungry alligators, with its sharp edges and thick green scales. Its eyes flickered like a lizard's as it stared intensely on Julia. Its long neck snapped towards Declan as its eyes zeroed in on him trying to move closer to his Luna.

“So, will the kid be able to heal up?” “I don’t know! There are just too many factors involved.” “What are the chances?” “Twenty percent. I think!” “What do we need to increase the chances?” “A beast called the Dragonfly-hunter.” “I will go get it!” Wilson recognized that last voice. That was old man Jenkins’ voice. “Are there no alternatives? Dragonfly-hunters can only be found in places with extreme dark energy.” Wilson recognized this voice as well. It was the old cane lady.

It took me no time at all to get back on my feet and challenge him again. “Where did…” I looked around the room and couldn’t find him. I felt a strong breeze above me, which forced me to look up. My eyes widened with fear as Chaze was in the air, flapping large dragon wings from his back to keep him above the ground. He lifted his hand up and started to summon a very large wind-like dragon. It was visible because of the rushing winds being gathered. I only watched as the dragon grew in size and moved above me as if seeking its prey. Soon it spotted me and roared a gust of wind at me. I dug my fox toes into the floor as best I could but I was sliding back. After it roared I uncovered my face

She jumped out of bed on her hands and knees and ducked as fast as she could into the corner at the very edge of the room, and as she clung to the cold wall, thinking she was carefully hiding, the black dragon managed to descend into the empty room. There was no roof where the demon lord lived, and the large open top above the bedroom seemed to have been put there specifically to welcome the dragon, and the huge black dragon passed through the top of the room with ease, its black scaled wings slowly swinging up and down, creating a chaotic flow of air that had Evelyn clinging to the walls to keep from falling over.

Tiny lights, like little fairies, are dancing over the river’s surface even though it is still daylight. At first, I thought they were reflections until one of them landed on the sleeve of my dress. It is not light like I would have expected, the weight of it a proof of life. The body is built to resemble that of a dragonfly's, but its wings look like fragments of stained glass. It tilts its head towards me as though trying to get a better look at me. Then to my complete astonishment, the dragonfly looking insect chirps at me. Not a buzzing or humming sound like I would have thought, but it literally just chirped at me.

She stared at me in surprise but before I could question her, I felt a strong wind around us, coming from above. My eyes peeled away from the woman to stare at an incredibly large, strong, and powerful dragon writhing in pain in the sky. Its scales were black with hints of red and it beat its wings like it was fighting an invisible enemy. I watched in horror as he screeched, his body squirming and his voice echoing in the air. Kieran. Those were his colors. I knew that much.

She screamed. “Noooooooo.” The female honked again and then her back formed slits on either side. Slimy, pink wings tore out from the slits and stretched. They looked thinner and more fragile than the ones the males had, but much larger. She flapped them slowly, then faster, and then lifted off the ground. Dudley came running over in a panic. “Do something! Please!” We were all looking up at the dragons wheeling in circles as the female rose to join them. The Mezzik took off to escort the female.
