I rip it open, silver chains clinking inside like a horrible promise . He sees them and thrashes harder. “No… don’t… please… ” “I’m sorry,” I whisper, voice breaking as I loop the first chain around his left wrist . The silver burns his skin instantly, smoke curling up. He screams, back arching off the floor . Golden sparks explode where metal meets flesh and shoot straight into my own arm like I’m the one chained . “Stop!” he roars, eyes wild crimson. “You’re hurting yourself !” “Better than letting you loose on the world,” I grit out, wrestling his other wrist down. My hands shake so bad the chain rattles loud enough to wake the dead . “Hold still, damn it!”

I grinned. I kicked off my sneakers, and he watched my movement with interest, confused. “It would seem a lot escapes your attention. What do you think makes my family the greatest, and most feared around the world,” I said, reaching for his chubby face and holding it. He shook his head, more confusion spreading across his face. With my free hand I forced Felix forward, my skin sprouting fur and my fingers disappearing into a paw with razor sharp claws. I immediately stepped back and took a swipe at the fat man, cutting his cheek, blood gushed from the wound.

My head turned slightly to see the man stalking toward me, black energy trailing around him. I snapped my head back to Rex, my heart skipping when the light I had grown to love exploded from her, blasting outward. She hit the floor, breaking free from the hold around her. The bind on me shattered as well. I turned immediately, grabbed the man by the neck, ignoring the sting in my claws, and slammed him to the ground. As he struggled to rise, I slashed across his chest. Exhaustion clawed at me as my claws dug deep, but I held on. His body dissolved into dust, carried away by the breeze.

He asked inquisitively, that I had to wonder why I had this dumb ass as a friend, let alone, best friend. “We're not alone silly!” I muffled, “ Get me out of this chains.” “What? You hear something?” His eyes darted in every direction , as he spun around, glancing at various ends. “I smell something okay? This thing got no heartbeat,” I spoke quickly as I tried to break free from the chains, trying not to shift and lose control at the same time. “ Get–me–out.” I breathed heavily, as beads of sweats appeared on my face, my claws grew and my canines turned into fangs…

I whispered back with an incredulous tone. "Did you just ask the devil that?" He grinned at me. Sam changed in a second. Horns sprouted from his head, his eyes turned a deep red, and his nails dug into my skin. Wings burst from his back, nearly tearing through the fabric of the tent. They shot upward, their razor-sharp edges nearly slicing through the material. Shocked, I gasped, but he pulled me closer beneath him, and his knife swiftly cut my cheek.

Hot liquid burned down my throat as a violent cough tore through me. I slammed the mug onto the table, clutching my chest while trying to breathe through the humiliation rapidly swallowing me whole. Though I had a lot to say to that, I knew this was my only ticket out so I blurted the most absurd of my speculation, "A satanic ritual?" He pursed his lips and nodded, "Yes, stick with this!" I heaved a sigh of relief, I was living another day. He was helping me off the platform, when he blurted eagerly, "Just so we are clear, I want me to cash out my reward—" I was about to reassure him when my eyes fell behind him. The Deranged woman apparently hadn't had enough tonight. She injured the man binding her and leaped toward me when a horrifying growl rumbled from beneath me.
