Asha stood in front of Vale Tower at 6:59 p.m., heart tapping too fast beneath her jacket. The skyscraper stretched upward like a blade, all glass and quiet intimidation. She hated that she hesitated before walking in. She hated even more that part of her wanted to run. Heartbreak made her cautious. Curiosity made her reckless. And Kian Vale? He made both instincts collide. The elevator recognized the black access card instantly. No buttons. No directions. It ascended on its own silent, smooth, unnerving. The higher she rose, the more the city lights blurred into streaks of gold beneath her.

By spirit. A cold wind blew through the room yet no doors were open. Suddenly, Bishop Zaphan’s smile vanished. “Enough,” he hissed. “You don’t understand what we keep at bay. We maintain spiritual equilibrium. If you burn everything, chaos will come.” James stepped closer, eyes glowing faintly. “Chaos is already here. You just kept it hidden behind offerings.” He opened the journal Eliora gave him and read aloud a prophecy from decades past one her father wrote:

I can predict things here. Unlike my life right now. Still… “That doesn’t mean I enjoy the chaos,” I said, crossing my arms. He chuckled softly like that was expected. “It’s a family, Alexandra. Chaos is part of the package.” I didn’t respond to that because honestly, I wasn’t in the mood for emotional wisdom. “Why are you here?” I asked instead, cutting straight to the point.

The room felt too small for all of us, heavy with magic and old intent. “Step aside,” Drake said. “She belongs under Council protection.” “No,” I said. The word came out sharp, final. “She belongs nowhere near the Council.” Lyra shifted behind me. I felt it instantly, the pull tightening, the hum inside her flaring again. Chaos surged, excited now, almost triumphant. “She’s awakening,” Chaos said. “You can’t stop it.” I planted my feet. “Watch me.” Drake’s gaze flicked past me to Lyra. His expression changed, just slightly, and that scared me more than anger ever could.

Like he belonged to me. The Moon speaks again, softer. Faith was never meant to be gentle. It exists to prevent chaos. And you… You are chaos waiting to happen. Something inside me steadies. “You don’t fear chaos,” I whisper. “You fear freedom.” The chains constrict sharply. The floor vibrates. Moonlight fractures across the stone. For the first time... The presence falters. A ripple of attention moves through the chamber. You misunderstand. “No,” I say, opening my eyes.

My world is a mapped out labyrinth. A seemingly impossible quest to find anything in the latter. Something so simple for others, but to me an unobtainable thing. Serenity, the one thing I yearn for since I can remember. Right in the centre of all the chaos and destruction, I dare to say, was brought upon me by my beloved ones. In a world as dark and cunning as mine one would think to take the first opportunity and get away from it all. All the anger and desires burning one from the inside and starting anew.
