The night stretched on as I waited in the penthouse, the silence heavy and oppressive. Rory hadn’t called yet, but I knew it was only a matter of time. A knock at the door broke my thoughts. “Boss?” I turned to see Rory, my most trusted enforcer, approaching from the shadows. His thick frame moved with surprising stealth for a man his size.

One might think, just because of how tall and buff he is, that he is mean, but he is just a big ole softy at heart.

He walked up to me, then stopped just inches away. “You were supposed to be safe here.” I forced a small smile. “You say that like this place isn’t run by the mafia.” He didn’t laugh. Instead, he reached out and touched my chin. “I’m trying, Christy.” His voice was softer now. “I know,” I said.

The driver told her seeing how she was trying to get little information from him. Rita groaned softly. “You should have said that from the start.” Rita leaned back on her seat and glanced at Katherine, then she furrowed her brows, her eyes darkened. “You better not mess this up, if you do, you would have to pay miserably for it!” She said with clench teeth. Katherine swallowed hard and lowered her gaze, she knew what a threat was and this was definitely a threat, she doesn’t owe this lady anything and running away, fleeing from all these crazy things seem to be the best thing to be.
