My Bestfriend’s Brother Is My Tutor

My Bestfriend’s Brother Is My Tutor

“What do you think about the use of symbolism in The Scarlet Letter? How does Hawthorne use it to comment on societal hypocrisy?” For a second, she just stared at me, like she hadn’t even heard the question. Then she blinked and glanced down at her notes, flipping through a couple of pages. She indeed was distracted and if she hated me before, I’m sure she would be ready to kill me now. It however wasn’t my intention to put her on the spot but this was the only way I could call her attention. “Uh.” Stacy sat up, back and shoulders straightening but her words still failing. “I think…I think Hawthorne uses the letter to represent sin. And how the community…” She trailed off, her fingers fidget

Redemption

Dante excused Rose from the polite lady she was talking to and pulled her to the center of the hall. "Ladies and gentlemen," Dante started, now having everybody's attention on the two of them. "There was a time when I thought I was incapable of feeling, incapable of loving. But that soon changed when an angel waltzed into my life." Rose was nervous all of a sudden about whatever Dante was saying. She felt heat creep up her cheek as she very well knew who that angel was.

His Betrayal, His Regret

His Betrayal, His Regret

Elias had emerged as the youngest general the army had ever had, a symbol of strength and leadership in these uncertain times. Scarlet, on the other hand, had been brought to trial. She had poisoned the food of Alistair’s men that day. It had been the turning point, the day everything had started to unravel. She had accepted her final punishment with an eerie calmness, as though it was all part of the plan. Elias had visited Emerson several times. He would stand at the door, hesitant, as if unsure whether to come in. I could feel the weight of his gaze on me.

Alpha Xavier And The Legend Of His Chosen Mate

My heart quickened as the sound drew nearer, anticipation mingling with fear. Then, Scarlet emerged, her expression blank and unreadable. I held her gaze, searching for any flicker of humanity in those eyes, but found none. Before I could plead with her, reason with her, she silenced me with a single, disdainful glance. "Scarlet, think about what you're doing. You don't—" My words faltered, swallowed by her interruption, by the weight of her disregard.

Scarlett

Scarlett I woke up with a terrible headache. I must have overdone it. I got too cold and nervous that I drank too much. The communication between Lucian and Maxwell was disturbing. I did not like being in the dark, especially about things that concerned me. I went to the bathroom to freshen up and made sure I hurried up. Then decided to clean up the rooms even though it was no longer my job. Idleness was killing me sitting down, so I kept myself busy. Besides, I noticed their staff never entered their rooms, and I was sure it was for a good reason. Once I was done cleaning the place up, I decided to take a book from their shelf. I looked for books that seemed happy and void of romance. I did

This was a great book, rich in detail and with complex characters. It’s the second book I read from this author, the first being “Unwanted”, which had no ending. This book also has no ending. I’m really disappointed to have wasted so much money on books that appear to have been abandoned.

Awkward Marriage

Now how was he going to talk her into making dinner? He stood up and walked over to the other chair in front of the fireplace and sat down. Startled, she looked up. He hadn’t joined her before. “What are you reading tonight?” he asked. “The Scarlet Letter. I couldn’t put it out of my mind after the comment I made to Miss Gordon at the wedding reception.” “Did she really think it was a stationary shop?” “Yes. Mrs. Walker and I got a good laugh out of it.” “I’ve noticed that you have a good rapport with Mrs. Walker and some other women in town.”

A man on the boat reached out his hand to help me up. His face was hidden in shadow, but I could see a scar running down his cheek. I watched the flames and bid farewell to my former self. From this moment on, there was no more Serena Ferrari. From now on, I would become my own queen.

The Awakening

The Awakening

The way her gaze lingered with unspoken questions, the way her presence stirred something deep inside me that was both comforting and terrifying. I ran my hand along the cold banister as I climbed to my study, the familiar scent of ink and parchment greeting me. Maps of the old lands and records of my family’s legacy cluttered the table. My curse loomed over everything like a shadow I couldn’t escape. I remembered my aunt’s words from nights before, the prophecy that bound me: You will be freed only when you marry the one fate chose for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The scarlet letter in Hawthorne's novel is such a fascinating symbol—it’s not just about shame or punishment, but also about transformation and defiance. Hester Prynne wears that 'A' embroidered so beautifully, and over time, it shifts from representing 'adulterer' to something almost like 'able' or even 'angel.' The townspeople start seeing her differently because she owns it with such dignity. It’s wild how something meant to humiliate her becomes a badge of her strength.

Then there’s the hypocrisy angle—Dimmesdale, who’s just as guilty but hides it, suffers way more than Hester. The letter exposes how society loves to punish publicly but ignores private sins. And Pearl! She’s like a living version of the letter, this wild, untamed reminder of what happened. The whole thing makes me think about how labels stick—and how sometimes, you can reclaim them.
