Nothing about her appearance revealed the storm raging inside her heart. Behind her walked her assistant, Anita Baker, holding a tablet and a few documents close to her chest. Anita’s steps were quick, almost hurried, as she struggled to keep pace with Petra’s firm stride. The guards at the entrance immediately straightened when they saw her approach. Without hesitation, they pushed open the large doors and bowed slightly as she walked in. “Ms. Chapman,” Anita said, speaking carefully as she followed closely behind. “Mr. Chapman and the lawyer are waiting for you upstairs.
