The Dark Silhouette

The Dark Silhouette

There is no such thing as a good or bad society, but we can always be evil. We've always talked about the protagonist and antagonist, but what about the people who are just passing by? What a small world we live in—we happen to meet people we did not know we already knew; those people who come and go in and out of our lives without a second thought. In a story, it would not be complete without the assistance of supporting characters—contrary to the popular belief that the hero and the villain are all that we require; those extras that help to keep the plot moving forward. That journey they are on, I wonder—if reading a manuscript will bring us to an answer, curiosity will never come; those q

The Alpha's Bodyguard

The Alpha's Bodyguard

It is used solely to serve the story’s character arc, themes of identity and survival, and dramatic tension. Characters in this book may display dark, immoral, or emotionally complex behaviors. This includes betrayal, manipulation, power struggles, violence, and intense romantic or physical relationships. The presence of these elements does not indicate that the author condones or promotes such actions in real life. They are included as part of the fictional experience, to explore the emotional and psychological impact of surviving in a dangerous and unpredictable world.

The Path Of Writing

The Path Of Writing

Inkerwriters
If an outline is the back bone of a story, then the characters are the veins. The whole story is presented through the characters' actions, decisions, and emotions, and it's the characters of a story that brings it to life. Even if you can make a story work without an outline, you can't without characters. For main characters, we will talk about characters in these parts: character setting, character arch, and character building. [TBC in case I missed some important parts]. Supporting characters will be simpler, and would only have one part about them.

A Writer's Contract: Twisted Inspiration

A Writer's Contract: Twisted Inspiration

"Yes, right! That's it! I've been trying to picture them in my mind but all I see is a listless doll. I can't even relate them to the plot..." "Perhaps we need to change something... How do you usually work on your characters?" "They come along as the plot progresses in my mind, the more I go into the story, the more I learn more about them and what they're like. What about you?" Jun asked really curious about how Iori's mind worked when she was writing. Her characters were extremely interesting, they were what made her stories the great work they are.

Astral Odyssey: Dying Ember

Astral Odyssey: Dying Ember

/ Luna thought to herself. Luna was not sure when it started to happen, but she no longer found joy in the fictional stories that she used to binge on by sacrificing her sleep. She started feeling more cynical. Plot holes, plot conveniences, overly simplified plot, flat characters, and more, became increasingly glaring to her. Perhaps it was around the time when she started to have the dissociation-like experiences. Perhaps it was when she started to view her life in the same way she viewed those fictional stories. Some people are like the main characters of a story. They are blessed with talents and well-loved by all, sometimes even having a bonus tragic backstory. Some people are clearly c

The Unwanted Wife and Her Secret Twins

The Unwanted Wife and Her Secret Twins

Mia's POV Thomas stood frozen, which somehow made him look dangerous. His eyes stayed fixed on Sophie. Alexander, oblivious to the tension crackling between the adults, tugged on Sophie's silk sleeve with fingers still sticky from marzipan. "Sophie, what's a supporting character?" Sophie's smile didn't waver. She knelt down to Alexander's level. "Ah, mon petit, a supporting character is someone who helps tell someone else's story, but they are not the main character themselves."
