Rogues were detailed as wolves cursed by the moon god. Looking at them now, it seems those myths were true.

Then Dreda, a murderous woman with an affinity for gadgets. That knack for hacking any system—though negligent, at least it had a couple of times saved their lives. And Razor, the suave fast-talking scout who flew under the radar like a ghost.

She tried to run towards me but another held her down. She screamed as one of them lunged for me, then stopped mid-air, slammed backward by something invisible. Gunfire. Two sharp shots. Then silence. Within seconds, three of Xavier’s men appeared, black-clad and efficient. The rogues were on the ground before they could shift. “Luna,” one of them said, bowing slightly, “are you hurt?” I blinked, breathing hard. “You… who sent you?” The man didn’t hesitate. “Alpha’s orders. We were told to keep watch until you were safely inside. We apologize for not making ourselves known sooner, however, we did not expect things to escalate this way.”

The towering structure loomed before him, but to Jafar, it was nothing more than an obstacle to overcome. Damien’s nose twitched. He caught a scent. No, two scents. Familiar ones. His mind raced as he identified them—rogue wolves who had once been part of his pack. Their betrayal had burned itself into his memory, and their scents were unmistakable. Mike and Victor. They had been two of his more trusted men, or so he had thought. Now, they were nothing but traitors.

“And after I dropped everything to come here and help you. I’m hurt.” I growled at him. I felt an arm go around my waist; Malachi stood next to me. Connor looked over at him, eyes gone wide. I could see the gears turning in his head. If he said one more thing, he was worried that Malachi would rip him apart. He didn’t know that he actually could, relatively easily. “Malachi, that’s Mac and this is Connor.” I pointed to each man respectively. Mac saluted him with the magazine he was about to put in the newly cleaned gun. “Where’s Charlie?”

I watch in horror as several fully shifted wolves step up to Dutton, he’s been secured by his wrists and ankles so he’s completely spread eagled between two trees; he has no way to defend himself from the incoming attack. I glance at Gideon to see his eyes have turned completely yellow and he’s watching his enforcers move in with fascination dancing across his face. His hand on mine tightens so much that my fingers are being crushed against one another; he’s enjoying watching Dutton get his punishment and I suppose a normal woman would be grossed out but I find myself rooting for the enforcers.
