Author's POV ~ Charlotte's eyes welled with tears as she watched Ethan walk out the door, the sound of his footsteps echoing through the hallway. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harper, approached her, their faces filled with confusion and concern. "Charlotte, sweetie, what happened?" Mrs. Harper asked, her voice soft and gentle. "Why did Ethan come over here?" Charlotte's father, Mr. Harper stepped forward, his brow furrowed. Charlotte didn't respond. She kept her gaze beyond his shoulder, her expression blank. Ethan's words still lingered in her mind, the pain overwhelming and she felt like she was drowning in it.
