Charles Dickens Famous Novels Novels & Stories

He too was dressed comfortably, he was sat up comfily in bed, an open book that most likely had his head buried in it, now sat in his lap, open but not even an after thought as he gazed at me. "Was that you secretly complimenting your choice of clothes?" I asked after the shock of his confession had passed over me. He chuckled but kept his eyes trained on me, it was making my stomach flutter and so I quickly changed the subject. "What book are you reading?" "Ah..." It was almost as if he had forgotten he was even reading until I mentioned it. He lifted it very briefly before plopping it once again back down on his legs. "Great expectations, by Charles Dickens. It's very old, but it's my one

"You can wait here, I'll come to Mr. Miller." I nodded, and did what I had wanted to do for a long time. I walked over to one of the large shelves as she entered a hallway at the end of this room, and I was surprised because I thought these books were just replicas made of styrofoam. In fact these books are really original, or books that are copies of the original books. Which, of course, is also old. I pulled up a book called Bleak House by Charles Dickens. One of the books was dark blue with an old engraving on its back.

The walls being light colored didn’t surprise me more than the mountains upon mountains of books he has sitting on bookshelves surrounding the room. I walk around the room running my hands over all the different titles and authors. Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, H.G Wells, and so much more. Wuthering Heights, a first edition version sat in a case in between the shelves by a set of double doors to what looks like a balcony. It stuck out to me more than any of the other titles because it surprises me more than anything that he would read a book such as that. I try to picture in my head him sitting in a chair with glasses, all relaxed and snuggled up reading a classical romance novel

I am aware that he is like looking at my face for a long time and is keep on glancing at me. “Ahmmnn a book entitled Wuthering Heights by Emily Bonte, Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens, and hemmnn Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.” I said as I look into the books there. “I see, those are rare books now since they are old and people nowadays don’t like sad and pure narration stories.” Henry said and I just nod. Henry is now helping me through the pile of books. It was almost 30 minutes yet we haven’t found one of the 3 books.

The bell rang. Jane was stuffing A Tale of Two Cities into her backpack when she heard Lucy's voice beside her. "You're reading Dickens?" Jane nodded warily. "Oh, I love Dickens. Have you read David Copperfield? Or Oliver Twist? Olive Twist is my favorite. I've read it twice. I cried both times. I can't believe someone else in our class is reading Dickens." To her dismay, Jane found herself walking down the hall to English with Lucy by her side, still talking, talking, talking.

Lucas explained and I turned to him. “I’m really sorry about your mum,” I said sincerely. “What was her favorite thing to read?” Lucas turned to me with a small smile on her face “It was anything between children fiction- she loved the classics, everything written by Charles dickens- that was all she loved and she had an entire section dedicated to it. It’s phenom-“ “Someone is here.” Malcolm said hurridely as he interrupted us, his eyes were hard and focused on Lucas who looked equally as confused.

Ever since he came home and started at Colossus Group, he had not spent many nights at the Hoffmans', so he had not realized they had kept the room's old charm. Noelle let go of Charles's hand and dashed to the bookshelf, taking a quick look. "Whoa, you've got the whole Game of Thrones series here! Were you into it? ‘The Tales of Robin Hood', ' Anglo-Saxon Chronicle', some random essays, 'A Brief History of Time'... Charles, you've got a ton of books!" Charles gave the shelf a quick glance and narrowed his eyes a bit. "It’s just for show," he said nonchalantly.

I left Aaron for the meantime on the part where the fountain pens are to go to the novel section. Since I saw Sophie Lark's Brutal Prince on TikTok's recommendation, people who have read this say that it has a strong female lead. I enjoy books of that genre, therefore I may be interested in reading it. I looked at the shelves. I also picked up a book and read the synopsis on the back when Aaron came to me here. "You like reading books?" he asked. I turned my eyes on him, "Uh, sometimes. If I'm interested in the plot," I answered.

He said, with a chuckle. He reached out to one of the shelves and shifted some encyclopedias lying there. At the back of them were novels. He heaved them to me and by the time he was done, I had the complete Dickens collection in my arms. Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, A Christmas carol. Name it, they were all there. He came down looking like a proud benefactor and at that moment, he looked really cute and harmless. I even spotted a dimple on his cheeks.

He closed the door behind him and I blew some air from my mouth in a sigh. Dinner time arrived almost within the blink of an eye, and I was dumbstruck at how time quickly flew by. Ana showed me the huge library that collected books of every genre and I was delighted to find Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I had never read the story before, so I thought to give it a try since I had nothing more to do.
