The old man asked him while trying to suppress his anger. "Yes, I'm still alive, and I wanted to let you know that I saw the gift you sent to me, and I really loved it, so be preparing to receive mine very soon," Charles said to him before hanging up. Once he hanged up, the old man immediately placed a call across Adrian to ask him what was still preventing him from doing what he asked him to do, but Adrian's phone wasn't going through, and when he tried calling that of the guards that accompanied him, theirs too weren't

His whisper reached her, sharp and controlled: “On my signal, move to the back window. Don’t stop. Don’t look back.” “What about you?” she asked, her throat dry. He glanced at her, gray eyes like steel. “I’ll be right behind you.” And though the fear clawed at her chest, she believed him. Somehow, in that flicker of trust, she believed. The door rattled violently, then began to splinter under the force of a kick. Adrian’s voice, low and steady, filled the small room. “Go.”
