Collateral Kiss
Dante’s eyes narrowed as he studied the scene, his grip on Emilia’s wrist tightening.
A guard stumbled forward, dragging another man by the collar. This one wore the same uniform, but his hands were bound, his lips split from a fresh blow. “Signore!” the guard shouted. “We caught him sending signals. Flashlight from the east terrace.”
A ripple of tension moved through the men.
Dante’s jaw clenched. He stalked forward, yanking the prisoner upright by his shirt. “Who were you signaling?”
The man spat blood on the marble. His eyes flicked past Dante, landing briefly on Emilia before darting away. Fear flickered, but so did something else — guilt.
