Pov: Bianca Embarrassment twisted my gut into strangled knots. My chest burned from the rejection. I stared at the door, willing it to vaporize under my glare. Groping Gabe, like Delilah and I liked to call him on campus was notorious for his arrogant and lewd behavior. He always had girls lining up to take a ride in his stupid fucking sports car. He was like royalty to the local community university and one thing he didn't know how to do was take no for an answer.

I nodded and we left the office together to Charlie's room. We walked in to Charlie playing some video games I brought the last time I was here. "Hello big guy." Spencer started. "Look Spencer, I'm not a kid, I've told you not to call me that." Charlie said from his game. "Alright alright, fair enough, but look who's here." I walked out from behind Spencer. "Oh hey Sis." Charlie said pausing his game. "You're happy to see her but not me, that harsh dude." I giggled at that comment.

There were no free chairs, but in my condition it would hardly have been possible to sit quietly in one place, so I chose the far corner at the same bar counter, where I settled down in relative solitude. Yaroslava, where are you? The voice sounded rather rough. Counter irritation to keep to himself did not work. “In Paradise,” she replied sullenly. - And what? I wasn't going to be rude, and the club was indeed called "RAI", but... he himself said to stay in the city, so why would he now arrange an open interrogation? - Yar-roslava! "This is the charm you gave me when I woke up in the hospital after nearly dying. You said you wanted me to be safe for the rest of my life, you remember?"

"Which is the point." I turned around. "Why are you getting dressed?" She kept her eyes on her laces. "Ryder mentioned the game." "Ryder mentioned..." I stared at her. "Charlie." "He just mentioned it,casually. He wasn't... it wasn't a big deal." She stood up. "I'm not sitting in this room on a Friday night again. I'm going to a game. That's all." I looked at her for a moment. The careful way she'd said it. The way she wasn't quite meeting my eyes.

"We're leaving. Now." "Do you know this jerk?" Chad asked, standing and meeting me chest to chest. If he only fucking knew how pissed I was, he'd be running with his tail between his legs. I stood taller, dwarfing him by at least six inches. When I turned toward Charli, I couldn't believe my eyes. She wasn't wearing anything that I'd bought. Under my grip was some cheap gold jewelry that looked like a snake twisted around her forearm. Her eyelids sparkled. She was made up like some kind of eighties' throwback punk-rocker.

They spent the whole day playing video games. Charlene wished it could last forever, a blissful escape where time didn't matter. "Marvel vs. Capcom is the greatest game of all time!!" Mike shouted, dancing around with glee. "Winner!" the game announced. "You've got to be kidding me, that's like the fourth time you’ve beaten me!" Charlene laughed, shaking her head. And then, her eyes landed on it—Dance Dance Revolution. She couldn't believe it. The game she'd always loved but never dared try in public.
