I stared out the window, but heard his voice break the silence beside me. “So, you’re friends with Roxy...and Adrien?” I glanced over at him, Adrien’s name suddenly drawing my attention. “Uh, not really, we just kinda… met. But Roxy seems like a really nice person.” He suddenly chuckled amused, "Roxy’s not as nice as she looks. She likes to play games… really dirty one, and Adrien? I wouldn’t advice being so much around him.” I raised a brow confused. “Ratting them out, huh?”

PROLOGUE TATIANA Death smashed into the back of Adrian’s slick Maserati, demanding our lives. My body jerked forward and the seat belt cut into my chest. My heart jumped, racing as fast as my husband’s driving. “What’s going on?” I whimpered frantically as I glanced over my shoulder. The headlights of a black SUV filled the rear window. Smash. My body jerked forward again. “Adrian!” I screamed. “Gun, get a gun.”

My heart misfires — one sharp, traitorous beat before I have even lifted my eyes, my body recognizing his voice the way it recognizes things I have spent weeks trying to untrain it from recognizing. The words catch at the back of my throat as my eyes land on black leather shoes. I go still. My heart thumps in my throat. I lift my head. My eyes fall on a familiar broad chest. Of course it’s Adrian. He’s standing in his doorway, one hand holding the glass door, the other in his coat pocket. He wasn’t supposed to be back until three.

Unlike typical cases, or so I’ve read, she remembers what she does when she’s someone else. “Who’s the hot fella over there? The big, grumpy one?” she asks while I’m spaced out. I catch her licking her lips, eyes raking over the man standing a few feet away. I glance over my shoulder, though I don’t really need to. I know who she means. “Jaxon. One of my brother’s men.” “You found your brother? Is he hot?” I shake my head, already wondering if it’s a bad idea to bring her with me when she’s like this. I call her personalities Dark, Light, and Grey.

In one swift second, Adrianna was out of the door but then the hallway was too dark. She couldn't see much and she wondered if they had no lights there. "What the fuck is wrong with these people." Adrianna yelled, her voice echoing through the hallway. "Fake!! Dianne would never yell and cuss." A sinister voice suddenly boomed from behind and Adrianna immediately whipped her head to the side. However, before she could do anything, she felt a strong grip around her neck.

Herriot said as she calmly stood up from her seat. "Madam Cindy is in her room right now, but she'll be back in a few minutes," Herriot explained calmly, bowing in front of him. "Why did she go back to her room?" "Madam Cindy just felt overwhelmed, and besides, she's been traveling for hours," Herriot explained. "You have a good point there," Hugo said, making Herriot secretly sigh. "Hugo Montreal is the twin brother of Cindy Montreal, and he is also one of Cindy's enemies. Despite being twins, they harbor animosity toward each other. Herriot needs to remain as calm as possible because this man is a master manipulator.

The heavy wooden door opened slowly, revealing a sliver of darkness that widened into the mansion's vast entry hall. My heart hammered against my ribs. Caden stood there, looking impossibly calm. He wore dark pants and a loose white shirt, sleeves rolled up, showing strong forearms. His eyes, dark and sharp, met mine, and a slow, unsettling smile spread across his face. "Right on time, Maeve," he said, his voice a low rumble that filled the huge, echoing space. "Come in. Don't be shy."

“A woman who has chosen hiding rather than family, you came to play the good guy?” “No.” I tilted my head. “I came to warn you.” His wolf bristled. “About what?” “You’re playing a cold game,” I whispered, stopping his wolf with a flick of my finger. “And you’re losing. You are just failing to see it.” The silence that followed was thick, suffocating even for them. Lorenzo’s voice dropped, dangerous. “To who?” “Xavier Blackthorn.” I locked eyes with him. “And Valerie. The Luna you’re underestimating more than anyone. The weak pawn that you think you can play.”

She shot me daggers and I gave her a bored look, even yawned for dramatic effects. The man must have noticed what was happening so he quickly talked. 'Just came to say hi, cause I saw you standing alone and thought you might need some company'. 'Uhm'. Was all I said. 'So....I'm Lucas. Lucas decries'. 'Uhm'. 'Your name?'. 'Err--yeah--maya'. She had no idea what Adrien had in store for her, but she knew it wouldn't be good. Finally, when they arrived at Adrien's room, Lisa noticed that the setting was quite different from before. The lights were dimmed, and there were candles scattered around the room, casting flickering shadows on the walls. “Here we are.” Adrien said, as he gestured for her to take a seat on the couch. “Don’t worry mate, you’re only here to watch me alright? Just sit back and watch.” He informed Lisa. He went to his seat as well, and that was when he made a large whistle sound… most accurately, a signal. Not long after, one of the pack whores entered the room stylishly, and just walked towards adrien.
