"White. Your move." Rhea took a pawn, running her fingers over the smooth curve. "You think too much, Alpha. And you underestimate. A deadly mix." She advanced her king's pawn two squares. "E4." Kai's lips curled, a small, nearly imperceptible smile. "Ah, the standard opener. Predictable but effective. Or perhaps, simply. safe." He copied her play. "E5." "Safety is also a harbinger of strength," Rhea replied, moving her knight. "Knight to F3."

It was all very intriguing. I studied her, making a mental note to start writing down things I've noticed about her. Why? Because I feel like it. It felt right. “Let's start with this,” she said pointing at the chessboard. I chuckled and opened the board. Deliberately arranging the pieces wrong. “That's not how it's to be arranged.” She said. “Watch this…this is the white rook, it goes here…this is a black bishop, this piece goes here.” She continued.

Chapter one “Rook to H1 is checkmate.” A young man with the eyes of the deep blue sea smiled as he placed his pieces gently across the chessboard. Opposite him was his opponent, dressed in a night gown that barely rejected any light from passing through. It was decent in a lascivious manner. The young man, Laufey, could not stop his eyes from lingering a second more than was deemed appropriate. “What happens if I just eat your rook from this position?” Errie, the girl in the transparent night gown, smiled back and asked.

I muttered as I raised my glass and drank to Davis. As I set down my glass, I suddenly hit down the pawn that represented Davis and then set it aside the chess board as I observed whilst thinking about which one of the big three ranging from the rook, knight and bishop would I be sending in. I already had the queen, duly represented by her whom I would speak nothing much of but you already know her as she was hellfire on earth. And then, there was a stretch of pawns to send in too. I needed to play this as strategic as would be possible as there could not be any loose ends to my plans.

She took care of one of my pawns but I ate her hook. The game got intense as she gave me a furious look. I took it that she's playing with me or maybe testing my reaction. She ate my knight which I hadn't anticipated. I stared at how strategic her chess pieces looked at the battlefield. If I moved my queen, she would eat her but one of my pawns had almost reached the end of the line. I moved my queen and Alee took the bait. She moved her knight and ate my queen, which gave me an ample opportunity to replace my pawn with my queen.

Kowalski instantly smiled with a predatory, ruthless grin. Kowalski knew the rules of high-speed rapid chess.
