A ghoul—a smoky, semi-corporeal horror with glowing red eyes and clawed hands—materialized from the shadows and slammed into him. He grunted in pain as his back connected hard with the carriage, the breath knocked from his lungs. The cube clattered to the ground but continued its ominous pulse. The ghoul, joined by a second, shambled toward him. The mayor, witnessing this, screamed, and the few townsfolk nearby scattered.

I could make out spots of blood spatter against the back of his hand and the cuff of his shirt. “Well, my pretty kitties,” he said. “Tonight’s frightening feature stars two of my favorite fiends. None other than Boris ‘The Creature’ Karlof and batty Bela Lugosi.” He leaned closer to the camera and smacked his lips, flashing jagged teeth. “Any fraidy cats out there better hightail it, baby, ‘cause here she comes! Roll that film!”

I ask. "Someone you should definitely fear," he laughs. He pulls back his hood from his face, revealing a set of blood red eyes. His skin is a milky white, and his hair is blonde and about shoulder length, greased straight back on the top. While he has a very tall figure, he's incredibly filled out and muscular. It's vampires. I remember Kat's dream. Thanatos said they were going to come for her. Honestly, I thought we'd have more time before that happened.

The voice came from everywhere and nowhere. Jack's Alpha senses screamed. He dodged left—too slow. A blade of pure shadow energy sliced across his shoulder, drawing black blood. Charon materialized ten feet away. He was surprisingly ordinary-looking—medium build, forgettable face, the kind of man you'd pass on the street without a second glance. But his eyes were pits of absolute darkness. "The Blood Scar's already killing you," Charon observed clinically. "I'm doing you a mercy." "Yeah?" Jack's eyes blazed gold. "Let me return the favor."

"The attic suite is suicide! The thing in there isn't just a ghost, it's—" "It's what?" She bit her lip, her voice a terrified whisper. “It’s the Shadow Lord. An ancient entity that devours light and souls. They say he rips your soul straight from your body, leaving your mind to scream in the endless dark until he finally swallows you whole.” I pulled my arm away. “Sounds cool.” “Cool?!” Marcus leaned over the third-floor railing. “Little girl, do you have any idea what happened to the last player who tried that? He didn’t even make it through the first night. The next morning, all they found was a human-shaped bloodstain on the floor!”

Those were just stories, because in the blink of an eye, the gentle officer who just stood limp on the side, saying nothing but following orders, fell to the ground, holding his neck and jerking in pain as blood gushed out of his throat. The other one, the particular ‘I know everything’ one, trembles as the devil in my wardrobe grasps him and slowly steps out of the wardrobe, his eyes bloodshot and… soulless. He wasn’t like a living human being. His shadow swallows me as I look up at him like a god, taking steps backwards with shaky legs, until I reach the wall, having nowhere else to retreat to. My pupils can only dance around the scene, straight out of a horror movie… I’m fine, except for

he demanded. "Because I could feel it," Drex replied flatly. "Feel it? What is that supposed to mean? Don’t play games with me! You’re the killer, aren't you?" Bob pressed, trying to corner him. Drex let out a long, weary sigh, seemingly exhausted by the baseless accusations. "Believe it or not, the culprit isn't human, Officer. Charlotte was the victim of a hungry vampire." I froze, staring at Drex. He spoke the word 'vampire' with such chilling conviction. Officer Bob’s eyes widened, likely wondering if Drex was hallucinating or simply hiding something massive behind a fairy tale.

She fell to her hands and knees, gasping, her violet eyes wide with a horror so deep it chilled my blood. Shadowalker was at her side instantly, his chair gone. “Cara. What’s wrong? What did you see?” Cara looked up at him, tears streaming down her face, her voice a ragged whisper. “Dracula… he’s on…” She never finished. There was a rush of air, a blur of movement too fast to follow, and a man stood in the center of the warehouse. He was tall, gaunt, dressed in an anachronistic black coat that flowed around him. His skin was pale as moonlight, his hair dark as a raven’s wing. His eyes were a deep, soul-sucking crimson. He held an air of ancient, terrible elegance.

Mia yawned. “......” I didn’t say a word as I knew she would explain things through so I sat quietly waiting for her explanation while eating. “Charles as you like to call him” she giggled so did I as her smile was very contagious. “He is a very dark creature as he is Death himself he has up tainted souls of millions of or even billions of creatures. Like the vampires and the Lycanthropes have a beef with him, their plans are still unknown but it’s of no good not one bit!!” Mia said in a warning voice that was cold and fearful.

The Hayle family didn't have the market on horseshoes cornered, it seemed. Two long corridors later, more stone, more tall, thin windows, more black carpet, and Sebastian closed the door on a chamber flanked by two of Pannera's vampires, cutting them off and leaving us alone. Charlotte's face morphed back to human, though her eyes still held the wolf as she began a systematic snuffling around every corner and piece of furniture in what looked like a sitting room, vaulted fireplace black from centuries of flame. I watched her with worry while Sunny stepped forward and hugged me.
