Aria sat beside her, her hands twisting nervously.
“Look at her,” Clara whispered, her eyes fixed on Elara. “Everyone smiles for her. Everyone bows to her. Does it not make your blood boil?”
Aria swallowed hard. “It does. But… what if we are seen? What if they notice us?”
Clara gave her a cold look. “Do not be weak, Aria. Tonight is not for fear. Tonight is the beginning.”
Nearby, the spy moved silently among the servants, carrying a tray of drinks. His face looked calm, but his eyes were sharp, watching every move. He slipped between the guests, listening to whispers, storing secrets.
