What do you have to negotiate with, Gabriel?” Everything went dark when I felt a puff of air going down my lungs and a flow starting in my throat while Kai loosened his grip on my neck. His scales shimmered in purple and blue as he slithered down my chest and disappeared onto the floor. Why did he stop? A few more seconds and I would've passed out so what stopped Kai from killing me? “Good boy,” I heard his voice and it all made sense. I turned my head to the side and looked up in time to see the slithering little fucker disappear into Zade’s arm and cover his skin in a tattoo.

His chest rose and fell fast. “Say it,” I whispered. “No.” I slammed my hand on the wall beside his head. “Say you feel it too,” I growled. “Say it!” Kai looked at me like I was fire and his eyes were full of fear. But also something else. “I do,” he said, his voice was cracking. “But I can’t. You are hers.” My whole body shook. My claws pushed out and my fangs pressed against my lips and I tasted blood.

She didn't move. "Six," Volkov said. Luna looked at Draven. He was looking at her like she was all that mattered. There was no plan, no tricks, no past experiences. Just her — like she was the only clear thing in a noisy room. "Seven." Kai held her arm tightly, his small fingers digging in. Then he moved. He was just ten, scared, with his dad doing something bad and his mom in danger. Something inside him couldn't stay quiet anymore.

He looked exhausted but relieved. "Leah, it's okay. They're gone," he said, leaning against the windowsill. Leah felt a surge of relief flood through her body. "What happened? Where's Sasha?" Kai's expression turned somber. "Sasha's pack was attacked by hunters. They killed most of them, including her parents. Sasha barely escaped with her life. She came to me for help."

You may now seal and consecrate this handfasting with a kiss.” Kai smiles as he says this, then leans down and claims me with a kiss, but there is something different in this kiss. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but when we broke off the kiss, I think I knew what it was. The eclipse has started, and Kai has a ravenous look in his eyes. “Our work is done. You may now claim your mate and Luna, Alpha Kai,” Kaede says with a satisfied smile, then walks away from us with her sisters in tow. The Volkov brothers smile and follow the witches out, leaving Kai and me alone.

I say, trying to keep my voice steady despite the fear clawing at me. Kai scoffs, his expression turning even more sinister. "Okay, you will soon know." He barks an order at Uncle Joe to bring him a taser, and as soon as it’s in his hands, he zaps Dad without hesitation. Dad’s screams fill the air, a chilling sound that echoes in my ears, but Kai seems indifferent to the suffering he’s inflicting. He continues to shock him, relishing in the power he has.

I felt his heart racing wildly against my chest. “We did it,” I whispered. “We burned it down.” “Not all of it,” Kai said quietly. He pulled back and looked straight at me. The fog in his eyes was gone. What remained was sharp and cold. “He’s still alive. And he still owns the contracts.” “Not for long,” I said, lifting the receiver. “The whole world just heard him admit to a serious crime. He’s finished.” “He’s never finished until he’s in the ground,” Kai said darkly. He climbed into the passenger seat, slow and tired. “Drive. Before the sharks realize there’s blood in the water.”

Kai was already clawed out as were his fangs, grunting like a wolf ready to attack. "What boys?" He shouted so loud that I was afraid Abby would listen, but luckily the thunder sounded right away, camouflaged the powerful sound of his voice "I need to know everything to plan our counterattack!" "Jason and Brandon..." "Damn, the boys only had one transformation, they were still learning to control!" I told them, I knew who the boys were. "These bastards will pay!" Kai slammed both hands on the counter causing a crack in the granite. "Koda, gather our best men, I want everyone at headquarters in an hour."

Kai was there in an instant, his bound hands reaching for me. "Are you okay?" he asked. "Are you—" "Fine." I pulled him into my arms. "I'm fine." We held each other in the snow. And for the first time, I believed we were going to survive. --- Knox watched from the snow. He was defeated and broken and he knew it was over. He had lost his pack, his allies and his power. All he had left was hate. He watched as Jax and Kai held each other. Watched as they turned and walked away.

Kai stepped toward her, his powerful frame tense, his scent,cedar and storm clouds, filling the room. “Speak, Seer,” Kai commanded, his Alpha aura radiating enough heat to singe the air. Caska’s head snapped toward the crowd, her finger trembling as she pointed toward the dark corner where I stood, trembling in my silver-beaded rags. “The destiny of the Crescent Pack is no longer in the hands of the strong, but in the blood of the hidden. Alpha Kai… is mated to June, the Orphaned beta.” The room erupted into a deafening silence. I felt Kai’s gaze hit me like a physical blow, cold, shocked, and utterly lethal. The bond snapped into place.
