I couldn’t stop staring at her, not because I was jealous, but because she had everything I had once dreamed I’d give to a daughter of my own. “Coffee is perfect today,” she murmured, taking a sip, her voice casual but clipped at the edges. I nodded eagerly. “The grounds are imported. From Kenya, I think. Charles ordered them last week after Barrett complained about the acidity in the old batch.” Maya rolled her eyes with a snort. “Of course he did. Barrett Augustus, titan of industry and king of pettiness. God forbid his morning brew tastes like peasant water.”

Michael’s POV The morning sun filtered through the towering windows of KAFÉ VERSE, casting a honeyed glow over the copper espresso machines and the glossy tile floor. I had just finished preparing a caramel macchiato layered like golden marble and a delicate lavender tea, the latter steaming lightly in a porcelain cup with a blue floral pattern. I slid both across the counter to the elderly couple waiting patiently, their eyes twinkling with anticipation. "Here you go," I said, offering a warm smile. "One of our best pairings, if you ask me."

She went straight to Leanna's office, and Leanna's eyes narrowed instantly. "You didn't do anything good last night!" Zoey glared at her and said, "Help me make a cup of coffee." "Understood!" Leanna served her a freshly brewed cup of coffee, adding two cubes of sugar. "Try it, it's the Blue Mountain Coffee Bean that was just delivered this morning." Zoey stirred it with a small spoon and took a taste, "It's quite fragrant." Leanna stood by her side, leaning against the table, her eyes glancing at the red mark on her neck. "So intense, how does it feel?"

The windows had handwritten specials on them. “This is it,” he said. “Best coffee in town. The owner knows my order by heart.” We walked in. The bell above the door jingled. The woman behind the counter looked up. Smiled when she saw Cain. “Cain. Haven’t seen you in weeks. The usual?” He nodded. “And whatever she wants.” I ordered a decaf tea. The woman raised an eyebrow but didn’t comment. She handed us the drinks. “You look happy, Cain. About time.”

He handed it to Cale. "Here," Elion said. Cale took the mug. He looked at it suspiciously. "What is this?" "Coffee. Two sugars. Oat milk." "I do not require flavor additives." "It's your order, Cale. It's what you drink." "Black coffee is more efficient." "Just drink it." Cale took a sip. He paused. "It is... sweet," Cale said. "Do you like it?" Cale swirled the liquid. "It is acceptable," Cale said. "The caloric density is higher."

But, one glance from him, as if he could read her thoughts and see deep into her soul, fixed her in her chair. He reached for the tray of refreshments Eden had forgotten until now and took one of the brightly decorated styrofoam cups, with a Rise Coffee Shop logo stamped to its side, and the word 'macchiato' scrolled in pretty, feminine-like handwriting on the white lid. They had outlets nationwide, mostly in shopping malls, but Eden remembered seeing one in the food court, on the first floor, when she played with the interactive map. She's a sucker for their chai lattes and would kill for one right now, or anything warm really.

It would be nice for relaxation and business meetings just like her restaurant. She looked at the names of the coffee in the menu book and the different foreign names made her frown in confusion and her futile attempt to pronounce them in her mind. There was koffee de lux, cuffi, African cafe, nes koffee. These were the ones she could pronounce in her mind without difficulty. They must be as sweet and nice as their names. Although she doesn't really like cream in her coffee, she might try one of these with cream today. The thought of the taste already made her salivate.

"That fast?" Santi asked Isis, not believing it. Isis looked smug and proud. "It's not called instant for nothing. And there's more!" He looked excited, showing Santi the coffee stick. "This has coffee inside. You don't need to grind or soak it. It's already powder. You just pour it in a cup and use that thing," he pointed to the thermos. "It's like magic... hello coffee. We don't need a coffee maker."

The dull thud was weirdly satisfying. I turned my gaze back to the maid. “Any Latin coffee in that haul?” I asked, deadpan. She nodded quickly, lowering her head as she dug through another bag and pulled out two black-and-gold premium coffee packs. I gave a short nod. “Good. At least I won’t have to drink Zach’s bitter excuse for espresso.” Her lips twitched. I shot her a look. She dropped her eyes again and went back to sorting the groceries like her life depended on it.

Lola We stopped off at our regular coffee shop to catch up. Cafe du Coin is a quaint restaurant with a French theme that serves fancy brews, teas, and pastries. We love the food and service here. Plus, the pecan shortbreads and cocoa are to die for. Making me happy she was available to drive me home today.
