Water sloshed as she clung to the glass, her reflection warping comically. "Solar-powered bubbles," Cassian said, steadying her with a smirk. "Generates energy. The floor? Pure pettiness. My architect thought ‘why walk when you can glide?’" He tapped the glass where a silver carp nuzzled Amara’s distorted reflection. "That’s Bubbles. He’s harmless. Mostly judges your posture." Amara glared at the carp. "He’s smirking." "Robotic fish don’t smirk," Cassian deadpanned. "They lack facial muscles. Unlike Jacques."

I take it out and click on the message notification. Unknown: "Tears look good on your face."

I grab the phone and swipe up to the message. ‘Damn! There is now way I’m gonna be able to run now! All I can think about now is you lying in the bathtub, naked and covered only in bubbles….’ Maybe I went too far. I don’t want to make it difficult for him to concentrate when he’s supposed to be protecting the borders. Well, he asked, I gave, not my fault. I giggle to myself and sent him an emoji of a pair of red lips and a shooting heart.

A moment that feels…perfect. I turn and look at him again feeling my heart do a strange summersault. He smiles at me and kisses my nose before telling me to watch. I turn back and feel his arms wrap more tightly around me. I put my hands on his arms, letting my head rest on his chest. He kisses the side of my head, just as Meadow goes to stand at one end of the bubble. She taps it with her finger and color spreads across the bubble just like, well … magic. “Whoa!” I say, and I’m not the only one. The sprites are just as excited as I am. The bubble is now a color gradient going from red all the way through the colors of the rainbow to violet.

Cassian Three bubbles appear on the screen as soon as I send the text, dancing for a few seconds as Jacob starts to type a response, and then they suddenly disappear. I wait for a few more minutes for a response, hoping it’s because of a bad Wi-Fi connection on his end or mine, but there is nothing. A cold sweat breaks out across the back of my neck. I tuck my phone deep into my pocket, look once at the closed bathroom door where the water is still running, and step out of the room without thinking.

SIRIUS : Why are you laughing, what’s so funny?? ELIZA : Nothing really, it’s just that you can be quite amusing SIRIUS : Are you saying I’m a clown??... Do I look funny?? ( he says visibly offended ) ELIZA : No not that, you are not a clown at all, I just mean that you can be funny at times SIRIUS : Well I didn’t say anything funny and anyways, shouldn’t you be upset that I’m not apologizing??

"Are you having fun, Babe?" I nod and bite my lip shyly. Then reply. "Sorry, I really love bubbles." I giggle. He possessively assesses me slowly. I tremble growing hot as liquid leaks from me. At his heated gaze. He inhales deeply, nods and closes his eye again. A content smirk on his handsome face.

I entered the bathroom, taking my bath immediately. "Hey, bitch!" Betty said loudly at my back, making me quiver. I smiled, turning fully to her. "Wow, you got nice round boobs," she said, my eyes widening, and I quickly turned. "Heyyy, you shouldn't say that, crazy girl!" I said, almost choking, as I heard her laugh. "Has anyone squashed those pumpkins before?" I heard her asking, still laughing. I shook my head in disbelief. "Betty!!" I shouted, making her laugh hard. I heard Mara laughing too. "You guys should stop the noise; your voices are annoying," Bella said, opposite me, making me scoff and roll my eyes.

Lee snorts, voice sharp — “You do know you’re identical, right?” “Yeah, but my colorful aura makes me gorgeous, while his aura is Vantablack,” I tease, and Lee just cocks an eyebrow. “I like black,” he replies, deadpan, and for once, Jackson’s snotty comeback fizzles. He stares at Lee with a defeated droop, a sight so rare it’s almost tragic. Luke speaks up, voice high with disgust, breaking the tension. “Yuck. Why are there so many pink balloons?”
