Confusing Sentences That Make No Sense Novels & Stories

~ ALISTAIR ~ I squint my eyes, focusing hard on the words, trying to grasp them before they flicker and disappear before I can pin them down, my brain scrambling to make sense of them. Is it ‘from’ or ‘form’? ‘B’ or ‘D’? ‘Was’ or ‘saw’? The harder I try, the worse it gets. Like a cruel joke dumb me couldn't grasp. This is not helping. I have a secret. One that if let out will tarnish the family name.

What could I say that wouldn't make things worse? I was confident I didn't know what to say. My mind went blank as Axel's intense gaze bore into me. I knew I had to come up with something, but every possible explanation seemed to fall flat. I felt like I was trapped, with no way out. Axel's silence was oppressive, making me feel like I was drowning in uncertainty. I shifted my weight, trying to break the tension, but it only seemed to grow thicker. My heart pounded in my chest, and I knew I had to say something – anything – to defuse the situation. But what?

Chaos. That’s all I can feel. Utter chaos. There are sounds and voices all around me. I can’t make out what they are saying, there are so many of them and they are talking over each other. I try to tell them I can’t understand them, but my voice is drowned out by theirs.

After saying that, Kean chuckled. It seemed unconscious, making Alvaro flinch. In that instant, Alvaro knew he had guessed wrong. Now, Kean was not calm.

The air was heavy with anticipation, and a sense of unease filled the room. As I sat by the sink, my mind preoccupied, I tried to focus on the words within the book I held in my hands. But no matter what I did, I couldn't concentrate. My eyes darted across the pages, but the words seemed to blur together, failing to form coherent sentences. Annoyed, I closed the book and dropped it into the sink with a resounding thud.

I mumbled underneath my breath, but he heard me just fine. “Why the hell not?” “Because… because, it confuses me! It makes me so confused and most times I don’t know what to do with myself when I’m confused like that.”

The specific pause of someone deciding something quickly. "I said we're going somewhere tomorrow," he said, and his voice had shifted back, had found the bored flat register that lacked all energy, like the previous sentence had not happened at all or had been a different sentence entirely that I had constructed out of sleep and wishful…I stopped that thought immediately. I had not heard him correctly. That was the explanation. Sleep and the bond and the morning and Kira, and I had filled in words that were not there. "Who is we?" I said. "I'm not going anywhere."

I swipe it open and read the message. I’d be a real lifesaver? The girl who just complimented me bumps into my shoulder and mutters, “Sorry.” I stopped in the middle of the stairs. I have to keep going. Abruptly, goosebumps coat my skin. I’d be a real lifesaver. Just like I was for Dummy-nic. The sentence is awkward, stilted like he was trying to fit the idea in. It barely even makes sense with the rest of the message. Unless he saw me in there.
