Sweet Dreams
His heart beats beneath it, steady, slow, eternal, and it’s like the tattoo moves with him, shifting slightly as he exhales.
And then my eyes follow the lines of stars that trail from his shoulder down his arm, they look like constellations I don’t recognize but yet feel familiar with, ancient, but old. His tattoo glitters faintly in the dim light, like they’ve been plucked from the night sky itself. My breath hitches as it slowly dawns on me.
What if he hadn’t been lying afterall….
Well a part of me knew he wasn’t, my heart believed it but my brain just couldn’t comprehend.
