The words seemed to leap off the page, filling the room with an eerie sense of foreboding. Everything written in the book didn't make any sense to either Stella or Morgan. They found everything in the book quite absurd. The book spoke of witches, dragons, angels, vampires, and the devil. They didn't believe in such a thing at all, weren't they just fantasy? If they were to interpret it, it only meant that Grandma Elizabeth was a witch while the stranger guy whom Stella had picked from the streets the previous night was the devil.

Once I reached adulthood, I realized these stories were meant to get us to settle down and listen to her, but at the time, I took every word as a warning. Erika told us tales about ghosts and devils alike. While the ghosts were there to frighten us, the devils had different intentions in mind. As the fire in the fireplace blazed behind her, the maid would gesture for us to sit closer, and she’d tell us all about the devils. The devils, she said, would drag naughty children down the ground. They were horribly ruthless, terrible creatures, and if a kid was snatched and taken by a devil, they would never be able to return to their homes and families.

Her voice dripped with sarcasm when she saw Visha lying helplessly on the cold floor of the filthy dungeon. Then at the end, when he had gotten all that he needed from me, he devoured. Well, there’s no surprise there. He is named the devil for a reason. And despite the fact that I got dragged through their insane rivalry, I won’t change it for anything. I will choose this life over and over again. I want to feel the maddening pain and sweet pleasure those two Kings brought me in those few months. One may not understand what I mean by this until they hear my story. So, that’s what I’ll do, I’ll tell you my story, and who knows, you may even learn from it, because the devil is everywhere, but I do hope you never meet him, and I certainly do hope you don't meet two at once.

The young woman thought of protesting, but she remembered in time that the being before her was a devil, the stories she remembered about them spoke as if a wounded ego turned them into horrendous and even more monstrous beings. Is he referring to himself as a devil? I can't help but think that he's one. His presence alone is ready to make you tremble in fear. I still wonder where I got the courage to ask this man to be my boyfriend. I always saw him from a distance and the only day I was close to him was the day I asked him to be my boyfriend. I saw a surprised look that flickered in his eyes. I'm sure he was surprised that a girl like me wants to make a deal with him.

I DO NOT FOLLOW ANY ESTABLISHED MYTHOLOGY, SO MY DEVIL WILL DIFFER, EVEN IF JUST SLIGHTLY FROM THE DEVIL WE ALL KNOW. MOST OF THE NAMES OF PLACES ANDTHINGS ARE FICTIONAL AND MIGHT NOT HAVE REAL-LIFE REFERENCE. THIS IS MY STORY, SO IF I SAY HORSES HAVE EIGHT LEGS AND LIVE UNDERGROUND; THEY DO, DO NOT TELL ME THEY DON'T.
