I quite enjoyed the chicken and broccoli. I must have fallen asleep as I pushed the glider as I wake suddenly to the sounds of screaming. I jump to my feet just to fall back onto the glider, apparently I’m prone to vertigo as that’s not the first time that has happened. I hold my breath, straining my ears to hear the faint sounds. She fell up the inverse bank, scratching her hands and knees on the rocks, but she scarcely jumped, scrambling to her feet and turning around to see what was happening. Brock yelled and thundered in outrage and torment and lifted his back legs, kicking the thing off of him and rolling absent. It took a sizable chunk of his substance and muscle with it.

As I stood to leave, Melinda's foot shot out, tripping me. Caught completely off guard, I tumbled to the floor. A glass ornament nearby toppled over, shattering into pieces all around me. Her eyes burned with undisguised malice as she pressed her heel into the back of my hand, driving shards of glass into my palm. The intense pain nearly caused me to lose consciousness. Amidst my agony, Jeffrey's angry voice jolted me back to reality. "Evalyn! How long will you keep up this act? Are you staging this pathetic scene just for money now?"

Ben covered his head. "Almost... there..." I gritted my teeth so hard a molar cracked. The crystal wall in front of us started to glow. Fractures appeared in the blue ice, spreading like spiderwebs. "NOW!" I roared. Dad slammed the drill engagement lever. CRASH. The wall didn't just break. It exploded. The massive crystal formation shattered into a billion diamonds, raining down like glitter. The Pangolin surged forward, free. I collapsed backward, Valerius catching me before I hit the driveshaft.

CRACK. A fissure appeared in the pillar. It started at the base and shot upward. It passed right through Kaelen’s frozen prison. The ice split. Water gushed out. Kaelen fell out of the ice. He hit the burning moss. He rolled. He was blue with cold. He wasn't moving. "Get up!" I screamed. I let go. I fell ten feet to the floor. I landed on my good leg and collapsed. I crawled to him. The fire was closing in. The Ancients were circling panicking trapped by the flames.
