Bloodscript: Survival Game of the Reborn
It wormed its way into the spaces between my ribs, cloying and too sweet, every wrong note scraping along my nerves.
Above us, the pale sky rippled.
Words burned into existence in jagged, flickering letters, hanging over the boardwalk like a broken neon marquee:
\[ESCAPE THE CARNIVAL BEFORE THE TIDE RISES.\]
Beneath it, in smaller, pulsing scripts:
\[BEWARE: THE DEAD WANT TO PLAY.\]
“Well, that’s not ominous at all,” Jax muttered, stepping up beside me. The boards creaked uneasily under his added weight. “Do we get a prize if we make it out? Giant stuffed eldritch horror? Goldfish that’s secretly a mimic?”
