He can live with us.” Celina gasped happily, clapping her hands together. “That’s wonderful!” she chirped, and without thinking, she moved a little closer to Gabriel, her face glowing with excitement. I smiled faintly at their exchange, but before I could say anything, Jace suddenly coughed. “I, uh… need some water,” he muttered, already standing. “Jace, are you okay?” I asked, my brow furrowing. He waved me off, not even looking me in the eye. “I’m fine.” But I saw his face, how it scrunched up in annoyance.

Perhaps she believed her men would have eliminated me way before now. "This is the love of my life," Jace continued and then turned to the rest of his team. "That's the Beta of Velmora, also a brother to the best woman to ever exist. And the last one is just one of us." He scoffed as he turned to the cheerful crowd again. "You can wait behind to drink and eat to stupor. Alright, that was a joke. Eat and drink as much as you can. Don't get drunk, don't be a glutton. Jace, Nina, and Velmora love you!"

" Jace groaned in frustration, muttering under his breath as he left. He figured Janet had no clue what was really going on. She explained to Felix, "Colin Brennan tricked Jace into going after Barry's family. That idiot's been spoiled rotten. He can't even see through such an obvious manipulation—what a disgrace to the Xavier family name!" Felix frowned slightly, processing what he had just heard. The Xavier family was not the type to fear the Brennan family, so why had Jace gotten himself involved?

His claws went through thick armor like it was paper Jace, sleek stormy-grey phantom, moved through the smoke like water. No big roar, no theatrics. He just killed.
