Cries Wolf Novels & Stories

Astrid's horrified scream pierced the pandemonium, her eyes wide with disbelief as she witnessed the appalling scene. The wounded wolf, now transformed into his human form, struggled for breath, blood gushing from his neck. Her hands trembled as they pressed against his bleeding neck, tears streaming down her face. "Why isn't speed healing working?" she cries, desperation lacing her voice. "Please don't die!" As tears flowed freely, the injured wolf managed a weak attempt at humor. "Don't cry, the Alpha would kill me if I made you cry," he chokes, his bravery amidst the agony perplexing. How could he joke at a time like this!

“Let the howl of our pack be heard across the land. Tonight, we bring justice to those who have wronged us. Tonight, we rescue Emma.” The wolves let out a collective howl, their voices melding into a symphony of determination. Clyde led the way, his senses attuned to Emma's scent and voice. He could feel her pain intensifying, her pleas growing more desperate. It fueled his urgency, pushing him to move faster, to gather his pack, and embark on the dangerous journey ahead.

How strange was that? Channeling my inner sarcastic bitch, I puffed out my chest and lowered my voice to a deep rumble. “Fear not, little wolf, I will protect you. For I am Azrael, God of Wolves and stalkerish obsessions.” “My, what a deep voice for such a small girl.” With a gasp, I spun towards the sound.

No matter how much I peered into the water surface of the lake, absolutely nothing happened. Not in five minutes, not in fifteen, not in half an hour... Unable to contain my emotions, I hit the water with my fist. Well, how so! So much to pass and again nothing! A cry escaped from his chest, no from helplessness, no from desperation. My cry echoed throughout the cave, reflected in every corner. Even now I won’t say whether it was me screaming or my she-wolf.

This time I flew to Russia to check on how the clan of gray and white wolves is doing. Once upon a time, the latter were quite numerous and more developed than the former, but during a fire twenty years ago, almost half of the population died in a flock of whites, including the alpha and his family. It came as a big shock to everyone. No one really could tell anything about what happened, and how it happened. The official version spoke of an accident with fireworks during the holiday, which caused several houses to catch fire at once. The fire was not extinguished in time. The panic began.

I tremble where I lie. The wolf sniffs around before emitting a vicious, blood-curdling growl. I scream in fear. The wolf turns, spotting me. I quickly stand and start running. The wolf gives chase until I hear my mother yell, 'It's me you want!' The wolf stops chasing me and runs toward my mother. 'Astrid! Run!' She screams. I don't want to leave her. I run a small distance and climb a tree. My mother's body lies limp. I can see blood pooling beside her. 'Mum!' I scream at the top of my lungs, crying. The wolf circles her. The wolf has blood on his face from my mother's wounds. My Dad is yelling in the distance, 'Astrid!'

How odd. Someone cries out and I break out of my trance. The wolf and I back up and see a witch burning lightning into a wolf who is crying out, whimpering. The world comes back into focus and I push sleep at the witch. The red wolf jumps in a second later and takes her down.

She hissed, and the hungry wolf lunged. The sounds of my screams echoed, but there was no one for miles to hear me. ©COPYRIGHT 2025/ T. MURPHY. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

After getting trapped in a malfunctioning elevator with two classmates, my classmate Sheldon couldn't resist running his mouth. He pressed the emergency call button and said, "Sir, you fell for it! We were just pressing it for fun!" "Brats!" The security guard cursed and slammed the phone down. Harvey and I wanted to beat Sheldon up on the spot. Sheldon, however, looked completely unconcerned. "Just press it again." When the call connected again, Sheldon grabbed the chance to speak first. "Hahaha! Sir, it's us again! Why do you keep falling for it?" The security guard lost his temper. "You bunch of kids–" I quickly cut him off. "Sir, don't hang up! The elevator really is malfunctionin

CANDICE. The voices wouldn't stop. They rushed through my mind from every direction, overlapping until I couldn't separate one from another. Wolves were afraid, angry, grieving, celebrating, calling for their mates, obeying commands, and crying for parents who weren't answering. I pressed both hands against my head, but it did nothing to silence them. A young wolf somewhere far away was begging her mother not to leave, while another was screaming in pain after losing his mate. Alpha commands echoed through the noise, mixed with frightened thoughts from wolves who didn't understand why they suddenly felt someone else's presence.
