All the little details I've put together is making me reflect on the nature of my hosts. And on the darkness surrounding them. I see Sarah coming to meet me. She looks more rested than I am. We all stood in a large circle with Crimson in the middle with a small table which only held a medium sized bowl and a small dagger. One by one, starting with herself, Crimson slices the hands of each of my lovers as I stand and watch as each of their blood drips into the bowl. I watch as she stirs their blood together with the dagger, chanting as she goes before leaving it to soak for a few minutes. "Are you ready, Kitten?" she asks, coming towards me with the bowl in her hands.

Then humanity needed to change with it. At first, Husen worked alongside them willingly. He believed they were searching for a cure. For months they studied ancient blood samples preserved beneath the station. The samples behaved unlike anything known. They regenerated damaged tissue. They repaired cells. They adapted to foreign organisms instead of rejecting them. The researchers named it...Crimson Blood. Husen warned them repeatedly. "We don't understand it." Their answer never changed. "We'll never understand it if we're afraid to touch it."

All of them were wrong. "Welcome to the real Crimson Moon Academy," Director Frost said, her voice carrying despite the distance. "Or should I say, welcome to the birthplace of the new world." "Let them go," I demanded, indicating the tubes. "Let them go?" She laughed. "Dear child, they're already gone. These are just shells, genetic templates for the next phase. You stabilized the random transformations, yes, but imagine if we could control it completely. Design the perfect hybrid. Create soldiers, workers, breeders—"

Because I did not know what else to do, I took it and he led me forward until I could have sworn we were directly under the moon, then he brought out his claws. I spat, my sword raising higher. Before he could move, before the pack could descend, the forest shifted again. Crimson light bloomed, searing against the dark and the witches. They slid from the trees like shadows drenched in fire. Cloaks of scarlet flame hissed against the earth, their chanting voices humming low and terrible. At their center, the Crimson Seer stepped forward with her blind eyes glowing white. Gasps and snarls rippled through the wolves. The pack bristled, half-shifted forms growling at the encroaching witches.

I thought I knew everyone, at least from the face, but I was pretty sure I had never seen that woman before. “So she did come, after all,” Duncan murmured, handing me some apple juice, which almost looked like champagne in that elegant glass. “They are the Crimson, darling.” “Oh.” “She refused to come to these events for years, but now she even brought the kid,” he said, easily changing our conversation to our mindlink. I flipped back to the last page, where I saw a little paragraph titled “The Crimson Circle.” “The Crimson Circle are a group of Dark Witches who are involved in sorcery. They involve themselves in all manner of dark magic, and use a tight system and formation to keep themselves hidden.” I stopped. Could the Crimson Circle be the one in charge of what’s going on all along?
