A half-witch cursed her to be the misery of my pack, and after our coronation, the curse started to happen. And the only way to cut the curse was her death, we asked the Hybrid Reaper’s help but he created a bond with her. I hope you can help us cut it.” She looked at me, and pity lingered in her eyes.

All the while hearing his master explain their story. “In the beginning, they were harmless creatures; then humans found their hiding spots. That’s when the horrid experiments started on them. They were injected with the blood of the Kraken but reacted badly to it. They became too powerful for the humans to control so they just let them run rampant. These creatures have lost their sense of judgment and need to be punished. So just enjoy yourself, Drake.” Drake does enjoy himself greatly and within a few minutes completely decimates the Whitlock boss along with his lackeys. Drake then changes back to his human form and jumps up to stand next to Angel.

Without hesitation, I let go and let the beast take control. With each stride, I got closer to the cursed pool that had almost claimed me once as I thundered through the jungle, four paws rapping the ground with deadly rhythm. Cain drops to one knee with a strangled growl. “Not now,” he grits out, muscles locking. “Not—here. Lyra, run—run now—” But I’m already moving toward him. My wolf lunges to the surface, snarling in defiance. “I’m not leaving you!” His head snaps up, eyes bleeding back into that molten cursed gold. Too late. Too late. The curse surges up, devouring the human in him. His hands hit the dirt, claws forming. His spine arches.

They spoke of his strength, how he cut through a pack of rogues single-handedly, how even death seemed to follow wherever he went. Elysia listened but said nothing. She didn’t know what he looked like. Only the name. Alaric Varyn. The cursed Alpha. The man whose soldiers had burned her home to ash. The man whose family’s war had ended hers. They said he was cursed, that his touch brought death. That no woman lived to tell of him. But Elysia didn’t care about curses. Curses were her mother’s craft, not hers. The scarred leader studied my face, my stance, the line of Ronan’s shoulder just behind mine. “You’re her,” he said. I tilted my head. “You’re going to have to be more specific,” I said. “There are a lot of ‘hers’ I’ve been lately.” His mouth twitched. Not quite a smile. Kaelen already knew where this was going. “No.” Darius ignored him. “A political marriage has been arranged with the human kingdom.” Kaelen’s temper exploded instantly. “You can’t be serious.” Lyra winced slightly. Kaelen stepped back from the bed, anger rising fast. “A human?” he snapped. “You expect the future Alpha to mate with a human princess?” Darius remained calm. “It is the only way to weaken the curse.” Kaelen laughed harshly. “Humans are weak.” He paused for a light chuckle. “They are fragile, short-lived, and barely understand the supernatural world.”

I was an unusual child, I began speaking and walking flawlessly at only six months old, I had impeccable hearing also, of all my very special and strange abilities, I hated that one the most, because I’ve heard nothing but hurtful words. My eyes often randomly turns golden yellow and then goes back to normal, I grew up hearing parents tell their children to not have anything to do with me, I grew up hearing everyone say I was cursed and I brought bad luck to whoever gets involved with me. Ofcourse what would I have them think, even I knew that I wasn’t normal. I grew up watching family and friends desert my mother, leaving her with only me. The guilt plagued me. Her suffering was my fault. I

A freak accident that left me completely alone in the world. But now, I couldn’t help but wonder. Were they werewolves too? Had they known this would happen to me? Alaric said the curse didn’t activate unless you killed someone. If they were werewolves, had they never triggered the curse? Or was it something else entirely? I glanced at the window, where the light of the setting sun was fading, giving way to the night. The full moon was coming. I could feel it—a strange hum at the back of my mind, growing stronger with each passing moment.
