She walked toward me, moving faster than her cane should allow. She touched my cheek. “Silver Colt. The Cursed child born under the Blood Moon eighteen years ago.”

The boy had no idea where the wetness came from because nowhere up around where he stood was wet. The boy felt a sudden sadness for the poor animal, so he held out his right hand, palm down, and suddenly, his arm glowed with a strange purple color. The purple color that had started to glow around his arm seemed to wiggle around it as if it were alive in its own way. Slowly, the wolf began to rise and out of the pit, with the boy switching his hand’s position as the wolf floated out of the pit. The boy laid him softly on the ground just a few feet away from the opening with a wave of his hand.

I sat on the ground, pained, feeling my heart slow and my senses dull. I couldn't make sense of what was happening around me. Chelsea's worried voice reached me; she was giving instructions to Belle and Bryan. I fought the pain, trying to draw the curse into myself so it wouldn't harm Flora or pass to Ivan. Those who try to walk out of this place, perish.” Huzefa sadly explained their terrible curse which had ripped the lives.

I grabbed Valentina, shielding both her and the boy as the air split open — a violent tear in reality itself. When the light faded, the world turned wrong… The forest was gone. The sky was fractured — ribbons of dusk and dawn coiling together like serpents. Shadows floated in the air, their movements slow and graceful, and beneath us stretched a surface of glass, reflecting both moons. “The Rift Plane…” Valentina breathed, awe and dread blending in her tone. ‘This is no place for mortals.
