A sob tore from my chest as I collapsed against him, my hands curling my fist into his blood-soaked shirt. Curtis was gone. And Varda had won.

“Don’t thank me yet. I’m a brutal tutor.” He laughed genuinely. “I’m counting on it.” He gave me one last look then nodded. “See you tomorrow, tutor.” “See you,” I murmured. He was weird.
