I’m past caring. On my way out, I stop by the florist on the corner. The place smells like memory and heartbreak, a riot of color and perfume. I scan the options, fingers hovering over the usual suspects—roses, peonies, chrysanthemums—before settling on the lilies. White, pure, funereal. Perfect. “Can I help you?” the girl behind the counter asks. “I’d like a bouquet of white lilies,” I say, keeping my voice light. “Nothing too cheerful.”

She sniffed, her confront tilting toward to the pink blossoms, a sharp breath of giggling getting away as her grin returned, presently more brilliant than ever. “Color…” she scratched, measuring a hand over her mouth. “They work?” She chuckled once more, the sound suppressed against her fingers, at that point sniffled, both hands presently covering her mouth as she strolled closer to the trees where a fix of daffodils sprouted. She brought down to one knee and gradually touched the center tube of the flower. “This… This is…” She snickered and shook her head. “I don’t know what this is.” He ventured closer to the blooms to see what had caught her eye. “Orange. The rest is yellow.”

The petals are long and slender and they come out of a hairy looking center that is connected green leaves that look like they support the bud and a long smooth green stem. Best of all, it’s edible so I’ll be collecting some of it for the camp. Charlie smiled before he said, “They look like leeks but they aren’t leeks.” Claire replied, “I remember reading in a biology book that daffodils are poisonous, aren’t they?” Charlie nodded as she smiled and said, “My wife is really very knowledgeable. Daffodils are indeed poisonous. There is a kind of narcissus in the daffodil plants and excessive consumption of it can cause food poisoning.”

“From your husband, ma’am.” “Another?” “That’s Lily of the Valley,” Dali exclaimed. “I heard it is hard to find in the city and costs a lot.” Anna’s cheek hurt even more as her smile widened. She just couldn’t stop the smiles as her fingers wrapped gently around the delicate stems of the Lily of the Valley bouquet, cradling it as if it were a precious treasure. The tiny bell-shaped flowers were graceful with their pure white petals. As she brought the flowers to her nose, the scent of it enveloped her and filled her heart with warmth. It was like a gentle hug, reassuring and comforting.

Her long, slender fingers rested lightly on the bouquet of Tana daisies beside her. The white petals and yellow pistils are small and pretty, making anyone want to protect them.

They come back every year in my favourite colour range, ‘round here,” Lila happily described,” why do you like daffodils?” “I told you, it’s because they announce spring’s arrival. The weather gets warmer, there’s more light in the sky, and they’re such a bright yellow that it’s impossible for them not to make you absurdly happy,” the woman related, beginning to loosen up a little.

He was still sitting relaxed, looking at me from the green. I also decided to approach Dennis, "why are you just sitting here?" I asked. Dennis sighed with relief, "it's nice to see you happy, and like the things I love." Dennis replied. I nodded my head, "look how wide these flowers are. Their color is very bright, white, and natural. These are lilies, right?" I asked. Dennis nodded in answer to my question.

everyone, the guys included, all said. It was a beautiful pure white dress. Silk was used at the bodice, with diamonds and crystals on it. It flared out into the perfect ball gown, but it wasn’t all that puffy. The flaring was decorated with little flowers and there was glitter sprinkled on it. It looked like it was a dress from a fairy tale movie. “It’s stunning,” I said, teary eyed. Hell, it was more beautiful than the original dress I was going to wear. “I would hope so! My faeries worked really hard on it,” Aunt Ophelia smiled. She’s the deity of the Faeries.
