Damian realized he'd gripped too hard. He let go fast. The pain hit sharp through my whole wrist. I looked down at the bruise already spreading across my skin, deep purple forming fast. The dirty work of the Coronelli family had always been Damian's specialty: tracking down debtors, clearing out traitors, the kind of work that built strength and paid well. I thought everything was over then. But I witnessed Caesar’s heartbroken, devastated state. He held my lifeless body. He gently smoothed my disheveled clothes and hair, then softly kissed my forehead. He promised to avenge me. Later, he indeed fulfilled that promise. It was my choice to be his slave and I couldn't go back on my words even if I wanted to. Went straight to my desk and decided to do a little research on Damian… There has to be something about his parents on the internet.. After typing for a few minutes I finally found a few interesting things about Damian.. There was so much about his success in dominating the business world but there was little on his family history.. There was nothing about his parents, not even a picture and it turns out Grandma Vanessa and Grandpa Narciso are actually his maternal grandparents.. Apparently there's nothing on his other grandparents and his family too.. it's more like they never existed…

Damien “Better find a wife, Damien. I need a daughter-in-law within the month. I don’t care how you do it. I want a grandchild to brag about to my friends.” My grandfather’s words echoed relentlessly in my mind, even as I tried to push them away. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. What a difficult old man. He was acting as if a wife and child could be procured with a snap of my fingers. I held Stephen and dug my nails in his arms, he winced to my satisfaction. Damian froze. I could feel his displeasure, as he stared at me, forced to watch another man hold me. He seemed to want to rip Stephen apart, but my pleading look and his daughter's inquisitiveness forced him to hold back. “I see,” Damian said, his voice tight. He gave me one last, piercing look that promised severe consequences later. “Dad, come meet someone, please!” Brenda whined beside him, holding his hand. “Carry on then.”

Mrs. Wade had hidden the fact his father was still in the hospital even when the doctor said he might never recover from the coma.
