I gripped his cold hand with both of mine, squeezing with every ounce of strength I had left, trying to send my own life force through his veins. *Breathe,* I commanded him in my mind. *You do not get to leave. You threw yourself in front of a bullet for me, Damien Hamilton, and I will not let you die for it.* "Charged," the assistant said. "Clear!" Sarah placed the pads down again. The second shock hit his chest. Damien's torso arched, his fingers jerking in my grip. For a long, terrifying second, the flatline continued its unbroken scream. Then, the monitor missed a beat.

He clearly was trying so hard to hold back but he was failing at it miserably. "I just a trying to sit comfortably." "Don't give me that b.s, you are enjoying torturing me. Is that it?" "I don't know what you are talking about." Raven feigned fake innocence. Damien smirked, and his hand went to her thigh as her dress was short. He started to caress her up and down. Whatever Damian was doing, he was doing it at a speed that left the other side no time to breathe. Just before dusk the residual line flickered. A single, tiny spike. Nowhere near the strength of a probe. More like a reflex twitch from something still damaged and trying, weakly, to remember its purpose. I watched it climb, peak, and fall back to flat within eleven seconds. My hand hovered over the panic circuit the entire time. The spike did not return. Damian came through the study door four minutes later as if he had felt it from the other side of the house. He checked the logs, checked me, then pulled me into his arms with silent, fierce relief.

Damian shifted back and came up on one knee on the floor with his head bowed. "I failed you," he said finally with red eyes. His voice was rough and low. "I lost control and I let Cassius provoke me. Now, we don’t have the antidote." I crouched in front of him. "You have not failed me, Damian,” I said as I placed my hands on the side of his face to force him to look at me. “You have never failed me.” “He had the antidote… and I killed him,” Damian replied, his voice laden with guilt.

“Don’t worry, pay it in. I’m raising a daughter you know.” Damien said. “Okay, and before I forget, I need you to look for someone for me. She goes by the name Jenna Marbles. She is involved in this case.” He dropped a picture of Jenna. Diablo wrote down the name then stared at it for a while. Jenna Marbles sounded familiar to him in some way. He didn’t know if it was the Marbles or the Jenna. He raised a brow. “I feel like I already know this person. Any other information you can leave?”

“ Damian , you better tell me . I don’t like putting people to report me on everything that you do so be a good boy and tell me the whole story . “ said madam Diana . “ If I tell you , you are sure to nag me for a very very very long time . “ said Damian . “ I promise I won’t nag you . I just want to know . If it’s something concerning your health , you better go and get checked . I am serious . “ said madam Diana .

“Medication. Fluids. Observation. But he needs rest. Real rest. Not the kind men pretend to take.” Damian stirred faintly. “Don’t…” he murmured, eyes still closed. “Don’t let them lie again…” Aria swallowed hard. Dr. Joshua adjusted the IV. “He’s drifting in and out. That’s expected.” Grandma Eleanor exhaled slowly. “My boy is in pains." " Selene has shattered Damian." Dr. Joshua nodded. “ Everything will be alright ma'am". Aria looked at Damian—pale, broken, breathing under fluorescent lights instead of standing at an altar.

“You couldn’t burden me. You’re mine. You know what that means?” I nodded faintly, heart fluttering. --- Minutes later, the company doctor arrived, nervous in the wake of Damian’s coiled power. He set up his kit on the coffee table, eyes flicking from Damian to me, measuring the storm’s swell. Damian never released my hand—never shifted from my side. He fielded questions with clipped, icy precision: “Her blood pressure?” “Low.” “Pulse?” “Rapid, uneven.” “Food?” “She hasn’t eaten properly in days.”

The nurse nodded quickly, rubbing the paddles together until they were charged. “Clear!” Damien’s body convulsed as electricity surged through him. His head tilted back, mouth slack, but there was still no heartbeat. “Nothing,” one nurse whispered. “Again!” The doctor’s voice rose above the noise. “Clear!” The second shock hit harder. Damien’s body jumped again, then fell still. The monitor stayed flat. “Sir,” the younger medic said quietly, eyes heavy. “I think he’s gone.” The room went still for a moment.

I found myself going after them and stood at a corner staring at them… Damian took his shirt off so the doctor could get a better view of his injury and surprisingly it was indeed a serious injury which truly required medical attention but there he was looking so cold and expressionless … He didn't flinch and sat straight as the doctor began disinfecting his injuries… In no time they were stitching it up and Damian still didn't flinch and made me wonder if he truly doesn't feel pain. Does that mean he won't feel pain even if he gets shot or got knocked over by a car?
